100 artists sue Spotify for copyright infringement

We have been talking about the problems Spotify is facing with certain record labels who do not agree with the amount they receive from the reproductions that are made in the free accounts with advertising, about 60 million, although many of them are not active. Apple Music has not wanted to offer the same service, but only offers three months of free subscription to test the service, during that period the amount paid to artists is very similar to what Spotify pays.

The Federal District Court of California has just accepted a lawsuit filed on December 28 against Spotify in which accuses you of using copyrighted content without paying the corresponding royalties to the owners of those songs. According to the lawsuit, the illegal use of songs substantially damages the integrity of the authors' work.

A few weeks ago Spotify acknowledged that it had a problem when it came to identifying the owners of some of the songs it plays and that it will try to solve it over the next year. Much coincidence that the guys from Spotify make those statements and whate a few days later they file a lawsuit for the same reasons.

The plaintiffs appear to want which have been reproduced without the corresponding license in form accidental, to call it somehow. on the way to reproductions of songs that if they had knowledge of who was the owner of their rights, this group of complainants intends to obtain 150.000 dollars for each one. Figures that many of the best musicians of the moment take a long time to achieve. Over time we will see what this demand remains and if finally Spotify has to really pay or not the complainants.
