iOS 9 is an operating system that did not bring great visible news, but it does include a good handful of details that facilitate the daily use of our mobile devices. In this post we will show you 15 new features and tricks of iOS 9 It is mandatory to know, some that you will already know and others that you will not, but all of them will be useful and it is worth giving them a review.
1- Turn off notifications on the screen
An option that many of you will not know is the possibility of making the iPhone screen not turn on when a notification arrives. You will not know it because there is no option to activate or deactivate the function, otherwise we will have to do something ourselves (or not). This is how we put the iPhone. If we put the iPhone with the screen down, (it is assumed that) the light sensor will detect that it is covered and the screen will not turn on, with the energy savings that this implies. Nor is it that it saves a lot of battery, but it does not make much sense that the screen turns on if we have the iPhone in our pocket.
If it is thanks to the light sensor, it will turn off whenever it is in the dark, which does not make much sense because they would not turn on at night either. In my opinion, this feature works by combining the light sensor and the gyro / accelerometer.
2- Enter desktop version in Safari
I don't like pages adapted to mobile devices at all. In iOS 8 you could access the desktop version of a page by tapping on the URL box and sliding down. In iOS 9 this is easier and we can activate it from the share button. In addition, in iOS 9 we could say that it is more powerful and access web pages in this mode where iOS 8 was not capable.
3- Save websites in PDF
One option that we have already discussed is the ability to save web pages to PDF. Something very useful to read later offline. We can save a web in PDF from the Safari share button.
4- Low consumption mode
One of the most important novelties that we have already talked about a lot is the Low power mode, who disables less important features to extend battery life. Also, the device will go into this mode if we set it as lost.
5- Slide to close a photo
In the same way that we can do in applications like Tweetbot, now we can close a photo by sliding down.
6- Slide to select photos
iOS 9 recovers a gesture that disappeared in the past. It involves swiping to select the photos and it is something that provides a lot of convenience. When we go to select the photos, we slide to the right or to the left and we will start to select. If we slide up or down, it will move the photos, so you have to slide sideways first. Once we start to select, we can also slide up and down to go faster.
7- Hide photos
iOS 8 allows us hide photos of Moments, Collections and Years. The photos will still be visible on the Camera Roll.
8- Call and other actions from Search
Search, formerly known as Spotlight, is now much more useful. In iOS 9, among many other things, we can call and perform other actions such as playing music directly from it.
9- «Paste and go» and «Paste and search»
In iOS 9, when we are going to paste a text in the box where we enter the URL, we will see two new options, although we will see one or the other depending on the text that we have copied to the clipboard: «go» if it is a website and «search» if it is a normal text.
10- Group notifications
I don't know about you, but I don't like seeing the separate notifications at all. With iOS 9, that won't happen to me again.
11- Dialing in Mail
An option that comes in handy and I will say a thousand times that I do not understand why it is not available in the edition of the Photos application. With Dialing * we can edit images from the Mail application, being able to add freehand drawing, signatures, text or a magnifying glass.
* In the final version of iOS 9 it says Markup and not Markup as you can see in this image.
12- Search in Settings
As you can see in the image that I have added in the option to Group the notifications, now we can also search within settings. To see the option, we just have to slide down on the main settings. That way we won't lose that naughty fit that we never found again.
13- Back to ...
Como nota negativa, cuando aparece el texto we can't see if we have coverage 3G or WiFi, so if we have a connection problem, we will not be able to know it unless we exit the app and check it.
14- Switch for the flash in videos
In iOS 8 we could activate or deactivate the flash in the videos. In iOS 9 we have a new option that allows us to configure the flash as we do in the photos, being able to choose between automatic, yes or no.
15- Save attachments in iCloud Drive
In iOS 9, when we receive an email with attachments, we can save them in iCloud Drive. It would be nice to be able to save them locally, but that will still have to wait.
News some of them very interesting, thanks Pablo. A small detail that I just saw in the application of the time and that is appreciated, in the forecast of the temperatures they already put the symbol of the degrees, which seems silly but that sometimes was confused with the hours.
But there is an improvement that I always find missing, the possibility of logging into ios as a guest, especially on the ipad. Because how many times have family or friends asked us for a moment to consult something online, for example. With the risk that all our terminal data can be accessed, or that something can be modified or deleted by mistake.
You have missed the LAG.
Unique feature since iOS 7
very good article thanks
According to me, the iPhone does not have a light sensor .. It is a proximity sensor .. If the screen would not turn off when there is no light and the brightness is all the way down when making a call ..
the ipod touch 5 ° does not come with the power saving option, does it? because I have not seen it.
Sliding to select the photos does not suit me. Is it just for the iPad? Thanks!
hide photos already existed in ios 8…. you hold down a photo and put «copy» «hide»
Could you tell me how to remove recent contacts from multitasking screen with iOS 9
Good afternoon
After I fully charge my iPhone 5 I get a shortcut for music on the lock screen but after a while it no longer appears, do you know if this option is an error or can it always be visible?
This is the "suggested applications" option.
