7 iOS 9 features that you can already have in iOS 8 [Jailbreak]

Today iOS 9 was released two weeks ago and there has already been time to test its best features. For those of us who have had the possibility to install it, we have already checked for ourselves attractive features such as the trackpad on the keyboard, the new multitasking or the "back to ..." button, which seems silly but it comes in handy to return to a first application that sends us to a second one by touching a link.

For those of you who are not developers, do not have the UDID registered or have not wanted to take the risk of installing a beta that is not intended for you, you have no other option but to wait for the first public beta. OR, If you have jailbreak, you can try the tweaks that we show you below.

Split View

One of the most important features that were introduced with iOS 9 is the iPad split screen. With this function we can split the screen in two with two applications, thus being able, for example, to consult a text and write it on another site. Or it could even be used to have two people do two different things, like browsing with Safari and reading an iBooks at the same time. Many attempts were made to achieve this in iOS 8, but the one that has worked best is ReachApp.

The native multitasking of iOS 9 works better, of course, but it will be available only for the iPad Air 2 (and surely in the next iPhone).

Picture-in-Picture

We continue with the multitasking of the iPad. Another novelty that it will include is that you can see a floating video on top of other applications. Honestly, I don't see the advantage of this feature because I either miss the video or the other activity, but having options is never bad. To do this, we just have to press the home button when we are watching a video or in the middle of a FaceTime call.

A tweak called VideoPane, from famous developer Ryan Petrich, had existed for a long time. VideoPane offers us an experience almost identical to Picture-in-Picture and is compatible with other applications such as YouTube. For now, VideoPane has one advantage over Picture-in-Picture, and that is that the native feature won't work with third-party apps until they update their apps (which shouldn't take too long).

Trackpad on keyboard

Another function that I like a lot, but this one is also available for iPhone, is that Apple has included a virtual trackpad in the iOS 9 keyboard. This will allow us to select text with a finger, almost as we can do with a computer trackpad. To "call" the trackpad, we put two fingers on the keyboard. Once the letters disappear (look at the GIF above), we can lift one of the two fingers to move the cursor.

In Cydia it also existed for a long time SwipeSelection. The Cydia tweak has even more functions than the native iOS 9, such as putting itself at the beginning of the text if we touch with 3 fingers. I am convinced that Apple will improve its trackpad in the future.

View upper / lower case on the keyboard

Until iOS 9 arrived, iOS users had to look at the Shift key to know if we were going to write in uppercase or lowercase. Well, unless you have a jailbreak. In Cydia there was already a tweak called ShowCase that did exactly the same. It is not a new tweak at all, but iOS 9 had to arrive for Apple to introduce something similar.

Low power mode

I'm sure this is one of the most anticipated news. With the low power mode, the device limits connections and some activity so that the battery lasts much longer. In betas it works very well and I hope it works even better when iOS 9 is released publicly. If you had battery problems and the jailbreak, you could always install BattSaver, a tweak that ensures that it can multiply by two the time of use of the iPhone.

New multitasking

iOS 9 will arrive with a more visual and attractive multitasking than that of iOS 7-8. It moves in the same direction as the current one, but when we use it, we feel that it has nothing to do with it. The applications are cascaded and the "cards" have rounded edges. To get the image of the multitasking of iOS 9 in iOS 8 we will have to install two tweaks, one for each function of those explained. To round the edges we will use Cornered and for RoundedSwitcherCards.

To return to…

And finally we have the button «Back to ...». When one application sends us to another, for example, the safari sends us to the App Store, we will see in the second application a text that is currently in English and says "Back to ...", where the ellipses correspond to the name of the first app. It seems silly, but it prevents us from touching the home button to close an application and return to the first one, which makes us gain speed and comfort.

To get something similar in iOS 8 we have to install the tweak Last App. But, in order to perform the action, we need to have Activator installed and configure a gesture (touch the battery icon, for example).

As you can see, the most important news of iOS 9 were already available in Cydia in one way or another. For me, this and other things make me convinced that Apple relies on successful Cydia modifications to later add them to its operating system. That is why, although I do not use jailbreak now and I am comfortable without it on my main device, I believe that jailbreak is and will always be very important on iOS.

iOS 9 is going to be the ostia, a lot of news comes in that with the jailbreak you can also have but you risk them coming into conflict, (in addition to spending battery), since I remove the jailbreak on my iPhone 6, I am much more happy the battery lasts two days counted I use Normal, I think that for me, in my opinion, the jailbreak is over for me, iOS 9 has many very interesting things besides that it will be more secure (which I like ), and it will be very fluid !! Greetings!!

With the new version, will the problem that some of us present when not being able to connect FaceTime correctly has been solved?

This guy has no idea about the jailbreak… I can't conceive of my iPhone without jailbreak, I have it so configured to my liking that it's perfect, in terms of security and settings .. if you don't know what the jalbrk is for, don't get into talking

I in particular just wait for the jailbrake to hack some games and for the ifubox function that has been blocked by apple, if anyone knows of an alternative to ifunbox please comment !!

Hi Carlos. There are many alternatives: iTools, iMazing, i-Exporer ... but the problem is not with iFunbox. The problem is that Apple added one more point of security in iOS 8.3 and therefore neither iFunbox nor the others can do the same as before.

Hi there. The tweaks for "The New Multitasker" are wrong. Cornered is for rounding options / alerts. And RoundedSwitcherCards, as its name suggests, is to round off the multitasking cards, but none of them works to put the cascade function, if you could correct that and add the tweak for the cascade function I would appreciate it, greetings.
