A father claims to Apple $ 2.300 spent by his son

A parent has sued Apple for $2.500 after realizing that her 10-year-old son had spent that amount through in-app payments from your iPhone.

Once again, integrated purchases and children are at the center of the controversy after the complaint of a father who saw how his 10-year-old son spent the not inconsiderable figure of 2.500 dollars on his iPhone after having made multiple payments on TikTok. The father first claimed Apple for the return of that amount of money, and after the company refused his request, the father went to the media to give more relevance to his complaint in search of a rectification by the company.

The father. of which we only know his initials "AH", he told the story of him in the British newspaper "Telegraph". Their 10-year-old son, who is diagnosed with autism and learning difficulties, received a new iPhone as a gift for Christmas. Just four days later, he made purchases within the iPhone worth just over 2.000 pounds, more than 2.300 euros. The purchases were made within the TikTok application, in payments for a “tiktoker” that the son followed. After noticing this expense, the father immediately demanded a refund of the money from Apple, and after receiving a negative response, he went to the British newspaper to present his complaint. It was then that a journalist investigated the case and after speaking with TikTok and Apple, the latter agreed to return the full amount of money.

The father's complaints are based on the fact that Apple should have detected suspicious activity in your account and should have blocked those payments. It is quite questionable that an activity performed on one's own device by an authorized person should be detected as suspicious. More questionable still is the fact that the parent will not activate any of the restrictions available for minors. But it is better to complain and blame someone else than to take responsibility for your actions.

Recall that Apple has long allowed the creation of accounts for minors who cannot make any type of purchase without the authorization of a responsible adult. This father has been lucky and has managed to get the money back, surely to avoid controversy and more media coverage, but we recommend that if you have children with Apple devices, you check the configuration of their accounts carefully.
