In recent years, Apple has made a series of signings for content creation, one of the two most important parts of a streaming video service. The other important part is the support it offers, the quality of the service, a section that you have to take care of as you grow.
Currently the catalog available on Apple TV is very limited. In the coming months, various titles will be added in the form of series, documentaries and films. As the video transmission infrastructure grows, must remain perfect as it is now. To avoid problems in this regard, Apple has hired a former Netflix engineer.
We are talking about Ruslan Meshenberg. According to the Wall Street Journal, Ruslan has been signed by Apple to create technical support for the streaming video service that be able to deliver high video streams without sharp drops (as with HBO) and that customers can enjoy the content available in the highest quality.
Ruslan, who worked at Netflix for almost 9 years (spanning three positions, the last being vice president of cloud engineering), was one of the architects of the system that Netflix currently uses to stream video. This former Netflix engineer has joined the ranks of Apple this week and will be part of the Internet services department leading the engineering team.
This signing occurs at the moment in which Apple is changing its overall approach to cloud services relying more on external providers to save money. Last year, Apple hired a former Twitter engineer, Michael Abbott, who appears to have pioneered this change.
