These days are being a hive of news around the new Apple operating systems. In Apple Park they are immersed in the WWDC 2023, which can also be followed from home, and are being discovered many novelties that we did not see in the inaugural keynote. One is iOS 17 includes the ability to share AirTags between several people, so those annoying notifications that we had a lost object nearby could disappear since the AirTag would understand that this object is also ours because it comes from a shared tracker.
Sharing AirTags with multiple people will be possible in iOS 17
Until now, when you bought an AirTag and configured it It was for your exclusive use. From then on, when the accessory moved away from you, all the users around you were notified with a message that an item was lost if the owner was not around. That could end in iOS 17 because Apple has included the way to share AirTags.
With iOS 17 installed we can enter the Search app, go to Objects and select our AirTag. At that time a new section will appear called Share AirTag. From that menu we can invite several people. With this movement, Apple intends to solve two aspects:
- That all users that are related to that AirTag (because it is a shared object, for example) stop receiving messages that there is a lost object nearby when the owner of the accessory is not around.
- That the same accessory can be shared by up to five people and can be located in the same way.
It is also true that not only do we stay at point 1, but also the users who have had access to the AirTag they can also interact with it by ringing or following it, as we have been commenting. Finally, Apple has ensured that the possibility of sharing is enabled not only in the AirTag but in all the elements of the Search network.
