Apple invests millions of dollars in machinery for its manufacturers

The new iPhone 8 with AMOLED screen continues to give Apple many headaches. To the rumors about the problems with the Touch ID and its still unknown location inside the terminal (integrated in the screen or on the back like Android smartphones), a problem that could even have caused Apple to abandon the fingerprint sensor in its next model, now it is added that one of the plants that manufactured a basic element of the iPhone 8 has said that it is abandoning.

It is one of the three manufacturers that Apple had selected to produce the printed circuits for its next iPhone, which seems to have thrown in the towel by not being able to manufacture that element either at the speed that Apple needs or complying with the strict quality controls that Apple imposes. This could have caused Apple to buy machinery for millions of dollars to cover the necessary manufacturing.

In this new iPhone 8 Apple seems to be incorporating new "Rigid-Flexible" printed circuits. This type of circuit achieves a higher density of elements, making it possible to incorporate more chips in less space. According to all sources the next iPhone 8 will have a screen of at least 5,5 inches but in a body much smaller than the current "Plus" models, which means that the space available for all internal elements is much less.

Of the three companies that were going to manufacture these new circuits, only two seem to be complying with the pre-established rhythm, and the third has decided to abandon. In order to compensate for this last minute drop, Apple would have invested tens of millions of dollars in machinery to be able to produce those printed circuits, which has stunned all the experts because Apple does not have its own manufacturing plants. What is Apple planning to do with that machinery? Rent it from your suppliers so that they can comply with the pre-established manufacturing rhythm. A curious but effective solution.
