It will be one of the novelties of iOS 11 that we could see in the presentation last June but of which we have not heard anything more since then, since it is not yet available in any of the betas that Apple has launched so far. This new Apple Pay service that will allow payment between people is a mystery in many aspects, and now thanks to the last beta launched we know something else.
Apple Pay Cash will use a virtual card that you can only use from your Apple device, without a physical version, and that will serve not only to pay between people but also to make payments in physical and online stores that are compatible with Apple Pay. And to get this card you will need to confirm your identity by means of a supporting document or with your photograph, as they have discovered in the iOS 11 code.
It will be integrated into iMessage, and you will be able to make payments with any user who uses this messaging system and also has this option configured. That money will accumulate in a virtual card, like the one seen in the header image, and It will be a card that will be stored in a wallet with the rest of the credit cards compatible with Apple Pay for use in compatible establishments. You can also spend that money whenever you want to your checking account, it should not necessarily be stored in this virtual card.
Being a new payment method, it is completely expected that Apple requires the user's identification to grant the card. According to the iOS 11 code, Apple will ask for "a driver's license or other identification card with a photograph". One more small detail of this service of which we do not know other important ones, such as whether there will be a commission for the use of it or how the balance of that virtual card will be recharged.
