This is one of those battles in which we have been directly involved in our #PodcastApple some week and it is that the subject is complicated. Now the European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager, wants to know in detail the position of Apple in supposed control that the Cupertino company performs in the App Store and that according to Spotify is a monopoly.
The truth is that all this can give much more in the coming weeks and is that Spotify's accusations are not from recently, the firm has been "tightening" Apple for a long time and now it is confirmed that the European body wants to sanction the company, but first they really want to listen to Apple's arguments to make a firm decision on the matter.
In this sense, the investigation is open and in Europe they are willing to listen to all parties before making a decision in signature and that is why Vestager wants Apple to be able to pronounce on these accusations. The statements were made at an OECD conference published in Reuters and for now the only thing that is clear to us is that this supposed Apple monopoly is still being investigated against the rest of the competitors.
Another important point to keep in mind is that Spotify at least gets the European Union to listen to its complaints and that is why the most popular streaming music firm in the world is satisfied. Now it remains to be seen whether Apple's official statements manage to curb the agency's drive to sanction Apple. In any case, "the fight" is still open and it is expected to last both at the time of making a final decision and in the days after it. The good thing is that all parties involved will be heard to get as much information as possible about the case and then see whether or not there is wrongdoing on Apple's part.
