Time Warner CEO Claims Apple Never Was Serious About Buying His Company

Many of us have talked in the past about Apple's possible interest in launching a streaming television service to try to break into the market for television and video streaming services. But after going round and round to this day I still Apple has shown no real interest in these types of services. In the past we have talked about Apple's interest in acquiring Time Warner, one of the companies that already offers cable television services and that also has a large number of television rights to series and movies.

But after several informal meetings, the current CEO of Time Warner claims that the Cupertino-based company never had any real intentions to buy the company. Jeff Bewkes states that we have been working together to try to reach an agreement that benefits both companies, but Apple has never really shown a special interest in buying us or in reaching any type of agreement, it seems that it has only been feeling the field of mergers and acquisitions.

Last year, Eddy Cue met with Olaf Olafsson, Time Warner's corporate head of strategy. in an informal event in which some preliminary conversations began on the possible interest of Apple in acquiring Time Warner and the convenience of Time Warner to proceed with this operation, since in recent times, the production company is not going through its best moments and the only feasible way for shareholders to hang the For Sale sign.

If Apple were to buy Time Warner, the Cupertino-based company you would have instant access to a wide range of channels and movie studios, among which are CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., an access that could be particularly advantageous if Apple wants to put its head into the world of streaming video services, a service that at the moment seems to be parked until the expected launch date.
