The Celebgate was one of the scandals that attracted the most attention in 2014. Celebgate was called the massive leak of intimate and personal photos of the most important actresses in Hollywood  through iCloud, where those characters stored a backup copy of all the photos they took with their iPhone.

At first, it was claimed that hackers had been able to access using brute force due to a problem on the iCloud servers, but shortly after hackers were shown to have created an account call appleprivacysecurity@gmail.com to try to impersonate the official account appleprivacysecurity@icloud.com.

Hackers they sent an email to all the famous women requesting the access password, many of whom proceeded to reply. This is a clear example of phishing to try to impersonate the authentic user. No service will ask us either by phone or by email to send them the passwords for any of our services. And if it does, we should avoid responding.

As reported by the United States Department of Justice, the second individual charged with this robbery has pleaded guilty. Edward Majerzyk, 28, of Chicago had access to more than 300 Apple user accounts, of which 30 belonged to famous people in the Hollywood industry. The justice department affirms that having pleaded guilty, he will have to serve a sentence of 5 years of deprivation of liberty.

Edward Majerzyk is the second responsible for this attack who pleads guilty, after Ryan Collings, the first to be arrested and who also pleaded guilty, entered prison a few months ago, but according to the FBI they are not solely responsible for this phishing attack, so the investigations are still underway, since neither of the two detainees has been accused of uploading the photographs to the internet, an action that should have been carried out by a third person.
