One of the editors at Engadget eager to have a blank iPhone 4 has decided to transform the black model using the repair manuals that iFixit has published and the parts it has ordered from a Chinese supplier. Judge the result for yourself. After the jump you have the photos of the whole process:
The truth is that removing the rare contrast produced by that HOME button in black, the result is very good and, above all, very beautiful.
Curious, but risky ... and the black Home button is weird.
And what is that Chinese supplier?
A geek with a lot of courage and knowing what he is doing, I did something similar the other day but not so much da It is very nice.
And the proximity sensor ?? How do we do in this case?
What a gypsy hahaha !!!
wait a month…. The black home is shabby. and the black bumper what do you tell me? Damn, I want to and I can't.
The black bumper on the white iPhone is quite attractive, I don't know whether to tell the one at the Movistar store that I wait for the white one.
It seems to me that it remains that you shit the black home with the black bumper
more contrast, bumper and black home button, white iphone. I think like so-and-so, it looks better like this
For when are interchangeable covers? I am sure that many of us miss those Nokia that we changed the covers and it seemed that we returned to brand new phone. Would you like it on the iphone?
Hello everyone, something curious is "that" that is above the headset, it does not look like the proximity sensor since it is on the left side of the headset. Someone knows? I've only seen "that" on white iPhones, black ones don't bring it, at least not mine ...
@Miguel, it is the ambient light sensor, only white has it because the method they use in black to do it is wrong, if you look at yours with a strong light you will see that that part is translucent and it looks like dark red than in Normal conditions it looks black and blends in with the casing but it doesn't look good on white and they have done it that way.
It seems to me a super laborious job and that the result is the same as a factory one, the black home button to taste, I prefer it in white.
I say to those of you who like white, wait for this model that in my opinion differs more from previous models.
What I liked the most is seeing how good the black bumper looks!
I did not like white at all because of the strong contrast with the black screen, but I recognize that with the home button and the black bumper the iPhone 4 wins a lot.
The transformation work is amazing, and the value to carry it out on an iPhone that you just bought, to take your hat off.
