The Cupertino-based company has reached an agreement with the cable operator Canal + France so that the more than 5 million subscribers of this service can opt for use Apple TV 4k instead of traditional cable box that the company offers to be able to enjoy its services. Of course, not for free.
All those users who choose to make the change, will have to pay an additional monthly fee of 6 euros per month, the same rental price currently paid by subscribers using the decoder. According to the French company, Canal + wants to reach a younger audience in addition to offering a second decoder to users who are interested.
Oliver Schusser, Vice President of Apple Music and International Content, says that Canal + customers will be able to enjoy a rich experience with access to iTunes movies in addition to the large number of applications and games that are currently compatible with Apple TV, along with with the regular programming of this cable television service through the My Canal application which is available in the App Store, since Apple TV does not have a coaxial type connection that Canal + currently uses to send the signal to the decoders offered by the company when this service is contracted.
Thanks to this agreement, all Canal + subscribers can finally enjoy through a single device of all the programming offered by this service together with the wide range currently available on the market through the different streaming video services currently available on the market such as HBO, Netflix, Amazon Prime Services, Rubber, ShowTime ... This could be the first move by Apple to become an excellent alternative to the traditional decoders that the main operators offer us when we hire their video services, although in the market we can also find other alternatives such as set-top boxes managed by Android or the Fire Amazon TV.
