One of the most overlooked features within all the new features of iOS 18 is that Apple will allow record video and listen to music simultaneously, something that has been impossible since the beginning of iOS. Sometimes we focus on the big features coming to iOS 18 like the entire AI feature set, Apple Intelligence, coming to iOS 18.1. However, Apple has added dozens of small functions and modifications that are gradually being discovered by developers and users who have accessed the iOS 18 public beta program.
One of those little features is the ability to record video and listen to music simultaneously. As we have mentioned, since always when the user accessed the camera to record a scene, if it was playing some content, that content would stop and resume when the video had finished recording. For many people this problem was very uncomfortable since sometimes it is not the audio that matters but the video. In fact, there were some users who used the option to record videos from the photos section of the Camera app by pressing a few seconds during the shutter. This allowed this native limitation by Apple to be bypassed.
However, iOS 18 will remove that restriction and we will be able to listen to music while recording without pauses or cuts. This change does not require any external device or any special activation. In addition, it works not only with the iPhone itself but also when we have connected devices such as AirPods, listening to any content from WhatsApp audios to music from Spotify or other services.
