One of the most anticipated features for Telegram since WhatsApp began to incorporate them into the app arrives today officially for all users residing on European soil. As of today and thanks to the update that has undergone this morning, voice calls over data can now be made directly from what has already become the instant messaging application of choice for many.
It is not the first time that we see Telegram include something that we could find previously in WhatsApp, queen and lady of messaging apps, something that has also happened in reverse. Be that as it may, both are now equal again (with the honorable exception of WhatsApp Status) on paper, although the preference of some and other users may vary depending on which function is the one they use the most. For example, the use of GIFs is still much more comfortable and natural in Telegram.
We imagine that Telegram does not seek with this movement to capture many users of the hegemonic platform, but it does show that they are still on the warpath and that the overwhelming numbers of WhatsApp they are not a problem when it comes to continuing to add improvements for your users. The calls, once tested, we can confirm that they are heard reasonably well and the speed of connection between one user and another stands out.
With regard to our country, data rates in Spain, although much better than a few years ago, still do not offer plans that give rise to excessive consumption of these. This results in a vast majority of users are not so attracted to spending their precious megabytes in this type of call and, therefore, that the impact of this addition will not be too much for your regular use of the app.
