AirPorts and Time Capsule stock is out

AirPort

One of the most loved products for which we have been with a Mac for a long time, are the different AirPort models (Express, Extreme and Time Capsule).

They always were, and still are, good routers (and much more) and el ad its discontinuation meant the loss of a very good product.

In April of this year it announced that, once the stock of the different AirPorts was finished, they would stop selling, updating or renewing. And that moment has arrived. There is no more stock on Apple's websites or in its physical stores.

Still, we can still find it in different Apple stores and distributors. Also, at very good prices.

Despite that el last AirPort Express came out in 2012, it is still one of the most interesting routers out there. It's small, easy to install, and ideal for creating a Wi-Fi network anywhere. In addition, it has a jack output for AirPlay, as well as an Ethernet output that, for example, allows us to provide a Wi-Fi connection to a device that only has an Ethernet input.

The top models, the Airport Extreme and the 2 or 3 Tb AirPort Time Capsule. came out in 2013, with a renewed design and features that, to this day, are still the best. Apart from being very good routers, being from Apple they have compatibility to make backup copies on the network (either with a hard drive connected to the Airport Extreme's USB or on the Time Capsule's own hard drive).

Despite being discontinued, If we find them at a good price, they may be the best option to provide our home with Wi-Fi. In addition, the different AirPorts can extend the Wi-Fi network of other Airports, similar to how the defendant MESH routers do today.

With the greatest of respect to the opinion of each one of the AirPort Extreme I cannot comment but Time Capsule was very "cute", but the largest of the garbage.
I bought one of the 2 Tb flat model (a pasture!) And in less than a rooster crows, I don't know if because it was getting hot or because I lost my music library because the hard disk could not be read. I contacted Apple and they changed it for another one ... refurbished of course and again in less than a rooster crows he died of sudden death from the same problem.
Luckily, I was able to format it and after several days of testing it, I "screwed" it to an unsuspecting person and I was able to recover more or less half of the large outlay.
Then I bought a Nas Synology and I put two hard drives to make backup copies of one to the other in case it hit ... fortunately after several years, with the Nas 0 problems.
In short, obviously there will be good experiences, but I would not play a Time Capsule again or with a stick.
I have iMac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch but in storage there are much more reliable options that do not cost the stupid thing that that cost, which I think I remember was four hundred or so lereles.
