These are some of Apple's measures to secretly protect the development of its projects

Theft of trade secrets from Project Titan

Last week we published an article in which we informed you of the arrest of a new Apple employee Accused of Stealing Apple Trade Secrets Related to the Poject Titan, project in which Apple is developing an autonomous driving system which it subsequently plans to sell to vehicle manufacturers.

Through the complaint filed by the FBI against this citizen of Chinese origin and that coincidentally had applied for a job in China at an autonomous vehicle company, whose name has not been revealed, we can learn about some of the methods that Apple uses to secretly protect the products it is developing.

Apple has different monitoring systems to prevent and detect information theft, including the possibility of taking screenshots on all the computers that it makes available to employees. This is almost certainly the reason why the Chinese citizen Jizhong Chen took several pictures of his laptop screen, an event that raised the suspicions of an employee who alerted the security services.

According to Business Insider, Apple requires all employees who are part of the Titan project to take a training course to prevent information related to that project, as well as others, it may be leaked intentionally or accidentally.

Employee training methods are continually reviewed to ensure that project information it is only filtered to people related to it. Family members should not have access to the projects at any time, nor can they provide information or confirm it to people who are not involved.

Through that complaint, we were able learn about some of the allegedly stolen data. One of the photos that was part of the complaint shows a drawing of a wire harness designed by Apple for a self-driving vehicle. A diagram was also shown that shows the sensors used to control a vehicle autonomously, and that allow the system to know the specific position of all the objects that surround it and the distance it is from them.
