Viv will be what Siri should be by now (Opinion)

And part of the reason they are, although I am not going to say that it is the next great invention in history, I do say that this is the first time I have seen signs a real smart virtual assistant, and is that Viv has proven to be what Siri should be today.

From things as simple as asking about the weather to somewhat more complicated requests such as getting a hotel room or sending money, Viv has been able to do everything in his demo party, and all this has been thanks to two things; The first is that Viv is based on artificial intelligence, this assistant is capable of creating programs on its own, so that each request we make is translated into a program to obtain the answer, all autonomously and on the fly, and the second is that Viv interacts with third-party services, and is that she is able to order a vehicle with UBER or even order flowers for someone's birthday (and pay on the spot).

Viv's full potential comes thanks to its complex structure based on "Neural networks", networks that can be expanded by developers to give more and more knowledge and functionality to Viv.

Why can't Siri do that?

Siri is created in a different way, Siri obtains the keywords from our phrases and checks them against its closed database looking for predetermined answersIf you do not get it, do a search on the internet and it offers you the results.

If Apple had open Siri at WWDC Last year, today Siri would be able to order food through Just Eat or similar services, send money through PayPal, check our bank account, the data of our telephone rate and everything that the developers would have wanted. Siri could do, however Apple has continued to keep Siri working in a closed and predefined way, it is true that it has acquired new capabilities and has become faster, but there are two things that leave Siri far from Viv, the be closed (no API) and its exclusivity for iOS.

Maybe this year with the WWDC 2016 that Apple is expected in June to step up and finally release Siri to the developers, it would be to do it at the last minute but it would still be in time to rival Viv, provide a Siri API and enable it in OS X would put Siri where It should be already there, and the advantage that Siri has over Viv is the time it has been behind him, the reputation it has been amassing and all the advances that have been made (such as integration with Apple services and the different languages ​​available ).
