Well no, iOS 10 does not allow us to remove Apple applications

Remove native apps from iOS 10

I am almost convinced that by now you will know that iOS 10 will allow us to remove some Apple applications that come installed on the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad by default, right? Well this is not entirely true. As you can see in the image that heads this postApplications such as Mail or Music have the "X" that indicates that we can eliminate them, but this is not the case: what we will achieve by touching the "X" is simply that they disappear.

As you know, the definition of the word "disappear" is "To cease to be in sight or in a place." That's exactly what the Apple apps we try to uninstall will do with the new iOS 10 feature: we will stop seeing them ... but they will be there. This has been made known by Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighi, who explained that the "erase" function does not remove applications from our device; the binaries will remain part of the operating system. Looking back, Federighi's statements make sense considering that they long ago explained that eliminating them altogether could cause problems with the stability and functioning of the system.

iOS 10 will allow us hide the default apps

In my opinion, we have to think that the new function is like a trick of illusionism: we don't see it, but it is there; We download them, but we don't download anything. When "downloading" the applications again, what we will do is rebind apps in iOS 10 so we can use them again.

With all this, users who had doubts as to whether eliminating these applications would free up space, the answer is no. And how does this benefit us? The answer is simple: that the applications that we do not use don't be bothering us on the home screen of our device. On the other hand, for example, if we delete Mail and click on a mail link, Mail will not open. For example, in my case I will delete the following:

  • Stock Exchange, because I am not interested in the least.
  • Search friendsBecause I have never used it and, if I want to know where they are, I ask them and they tell me ... if they want. The same if the one they want to locate is me.
  • Apple Watch, because right now I neither have it nor am I considering it (perhaps in September, when it is rumored that they will release the second version).
  • Tips… no comment.
  • Contacts, because on the iPhone I can access them from the Phone application.

I like to have everything very organized and those 5 applications I have not used and will not use. In this case, hiding them may be a good idea. What applications will you hide? What do you think of this new information?
