A 14-year-old boy is the creator of one of the Apple Arcade games

We have been with Apple Arcade, Apple's video game subscription. A service with great titles that sometimes hide beautiful stories with their developers. We want to tell you the story of the Apple Arcade game Operator 41, a game that is curiously developed by an intrepid 14-year-old developer. After the jump we give you all the details of the creation process of this video game.

The guys at VICE have been the ones to investigate this story. The story of Spruce Campbell, a 14-year-old boy who, after seeing that Apple was going to launch the Apple Arcade service, ventured to develop Operator 41. A game with a great design in which we will have to move our operator to reach the phone, yes, encountering thousands of obstacles to achieve our goal.

Campbell had learned programming self-taught at age 8When turned 12 created his first video game: CyberPNK (with which he got a BAFTA). And it was in 2019 when he got a scholarship from Apple to participate in WWDC 2019, and that was where proposed to the company the inclusion of Operator 41 in Apple Arcade.

When I saw the announcement for Apple Arcade in March, I dropped everything and decided to build a completely new game for Arcade. I thought games that really fit Apple Arcade will probably be designed from scratch so I came up with a stealth game that would work on all Arcade platforms

The VICE editor also reflects on Apple's interest in the Apple Arcade service. A interest that goes not only to earn money thanks to subscriptions, but also the interest in looking for new people, and above all in giving talented people a chance: Operator 41 doesn't have many opinions. It has had practically no marketing, and it was not in the great Apple storefront ... But the remarkable thing is that Operator 41 exists, and it shows that Apple is willing to give people a chance. Apple Arcade is not a place where, like the App Store, anything can be published. There is a "commissioning" process. Apple decided it was worth including a game by an unknown 14-year-old designer. So now you know, if you have Apple Arcade give this interesting game a try.
