A large number of devices will be left without receiving iOS 13 according to a leaked compatibility list

iOS 13 will almost certainly be presented at WWDC 2019 about the month of June. And, apparently, it will not be compatible with a large number of iPhone, iPod and iPad models.

Unlike iOS 12, whose philosophy was to support all devices that accept iOS 11, Apple looks like with iOS 13 it's going to cut the list drastically.

According to The Verifier, Apple will not offer iOS 13 to iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, or iPhone SE. Although the rumor does not assure the iPhone SE, or 6S and 6S Plus as affected, they admit that it is very likely.

Of these iPhones, only the iPhone SE has been sold by Apple in recent months And, in fact, only through the company's liquidation website, so there is no currently officially sold iPhone model that is left without updating to iOS 13.

Something that seems as reasonable as receiving, at least, a major update if we buy today an Apple product sold officially, it seems that the iPad mini 4 will not apply. The only iPad mini that is still on sale and that would be left without updating to iOS 13 along with the iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad Air and iPad Air 2 (all of them compatible with iOS 12).

Finally, it seems that the current iPod touch (6th generation) still sold by Apple and compatible with iOS 12, would not receive iOS 13.

Without a doubt, a risky move by Apple that has always promised many years of updating and that, if this rumor is true, it would leave without major updates even currently sold models such as the iPod touch, the iPad mini 4 or the iPhone SE sold until recently.

So the list of devices compatible with iOS 13 would be (not including the iPhone, iPad or iPod models that are presented this 2019):

  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • 8 iPhone Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • 7 iPhone Plus
  • iPad Pro (all models)
  • iPad (5th and 6th generation)

The Verifier it also says that Apple this year bet on forcing the play and leaving many devices without iOS 13 at once to increase device renewals and, thus, sales.

It is also mentioned that some of the novelties of iOS 13 would only be available for the most modern models, leaving devices like the iPhone 7 without them.

Well, I'm not going to buy anything else from Apple, if they think that leaving my iPad out of the update they are going to get me to buy another one, they are very wrong.
