A spectacular new Apple Store in San Francisco

The news about a new Apple Store in San Francisco is not a new topic, but it is now that it seems that the project is going to have green light to be carried out.

The current Apple store in San Francisco is 'too small' for a city that is the meeting point Apple in many ways. For this reason, and because they want to give their design a twist, they have decided to create a simply impressive store.

Apple has had to completely review the design of this store and adapt to a source that at first they had to be able to remove it from the middle. This is a historical fountain located enUnion Square, square where the Apple Store will be located.

The font created by Ruth Asawa will remain, according to local press, in its usual place. Located in the middle of some stairs, it allows that at the back of the Apple Store there is a open space.

The two meter high fountain dates from the year 1973 and it is full of images of the buildings and characters of the time. It was made in collaboration with family members and students, who formed figures of bread dough that Asawa - who died this month at the age of 87 - later cast in bronze.

There was also a concern that the store would have to be built with a massive steel wall on Stockton Street, approximately eighty feet long by six feet high. Apple has addressed this issue by adding two-meter windows that will divide the wall and give daylight to the store. The window continues up to the ceiling.

Without a doubt, it is an Apple Store incredible, in an incredible place and in a city that for Apple is emblematic.

"My first reaction is very positive," said City Planning Department Director John Rahaim. Who could not like it?

That square is spectacular, a huge Macys, Sacks and well, the square surrounded by pretty cool cafes. Hopefully the AppStore fits into the landscape of that beautiful square. I recommend that you take a walk there, two lines of Cable Cars pass through there and can go to Pier 39 🙂

The red, yellow, blue and green leave you there. Go up the stairs to the plaza and you will see the Cable Car terminal, go up a couple of blocks and Union Square will be on the right.
