A virus affects jailbroken devices by stealing your Apple ID

virus

iOS is a safe system although it has its flaws, as you may have been checking by the articles that we publish on occasions explaining them. Jailbreak means losing some security in favor of more customization options and features that Apple doesn't allow. Knowing well what is installed and using known and reliable sources are tips that should be followed to minimize the loss of security caused by the Jailbreak, and today we can give you one more example that these tips are more than recommended. A new malware (or virus, to understand us better) has reached Jailbroken devices (iPhone and iPad), and it installs on our devices by stealing our Apple ID and password and sending it to its creators. The consequences do not need to be explained. How do you know if you are infected? What to do if you are? We explain it to you below.

Check if we have the malware installed

We must use a file explorer like iFile (Cydia) and access the path «/ Library / MobileSubstrate / DynamicLibraries /», in it we must look for the following files: Unflod.dylib, Unflod.plist, framework.dylib, or framework.plist. If we don't find them on that route, we can be calm, but if we find them, then we are infected. We explain the steps to follow if these files are on our device.

Remove malware from our device

The safest thing is restore your device from scratch, without backup, although it will cause you to lose the jailbreak. We are talking about the data of your Apple account, it is worth losing the Jailbreak but having your account safe. In some sites they indicate that the elimination of those files that I mentioned before would be more than enough, but I certainly would not play it. Of course it is also necessary that you change your Apple password in case it has already been sent to the hackers who created the virus.

Where does the virus come from? It seems that its origin is in China, and that it could have reached your device because of dubious repositories or cracked applications to which malware is added. Be that as it may, as I said at the beginning, it is always best to know what is installed and where it comes from. If you want more information, they are talking about it in Reddit.

I can't find the mobilesubstrate folder

If you do not have the folder, it is because you have not installed any package that requires it. It seems that this virus requires it to work, so you can rest easy.

If you can't find it, you must be looking in the Wrong folder, many confuse the library folder with var / mobile / library / so check well mate and don't worry that you can also install a patch for said error that blocks the problem 😉

In principle it should be enough, but no one has confirmed that with that any risk is already eliminated

Exactly in my case I do not have those harmful files, but it is not necessary to restore, with which they remove the privileges, delete them and uninstall some tweak, repository or other strange thing that they have installed, and then change the ID password.

that might suffice, but there is no information to confirm it.

What a freak! It was clear that the pop-ups of the crying child dressed as a pirate and the no pirates sign were not beeping well. Luckily, I don't have the files, but I think I'm going to clean up. I have Auxo2 downloaded for free from HYI. And is that fixed! Careful
