About SIM Gevey

Gevey SIM Package

Many of you comment that the Gevey SIM does not work for you, others that it does, some say that it does not work when you use a custom firmwares and others have a very serious problem with Basebands.

The unlock card works on iOS 5 as long as you preserve your baseband and your old baseband was unlockable with Gevey.

If you update to iOS 5 you will normally lose the possibility of using Gevey forever, you have to do it while keeping your baseband (the same goes for Ultrasn0w).

How can you do this? Well there are two ways, one is creating a Custom firmware with Redsn0w and the other one doing it with Sn0wbreeze.

Windows:

sn0wbreeze 2.8 b8 (mirror)

Mac:

redsn0w 0.9.9b5 Mac (mirror)

Tutorial to use Sn0wbreeze (coming soon)

But what nonsense? it is assumed that if you keep the basedband with a CFW you can release it with Ultrasnow right? why spend money on Givey?

  2.   gnzl said

The same basebands are not released with one as with another ...
If your baseband is not releasable with ultrasn0w and if with gevey then it is the only option.
There is always an explanation, people are not so stupid ...

  3.   wow said

Maybe I have explained myself wrong, I meant keeping the "releasable" basedband

To the question Does Gevey work on iOS5? The answer is yes. Now, with nuances.
    - You cannot upload the baseband, that is an indispensable condition.
    - In my case, if I do not hack the terminal, even if I activate it with an operator sim, when I put the GEVEY I get an error, and it asks me to activate again.
    - I have it working hacktivated + jailbreked with sn0wbreeze and the steps are as follows:
I turn on the iPhone with the card removed, once the Gevey starts inserted and the little black sign appears. DO NOT wait for the coverage line to appear to call 112, it does not come out, count to 15 and make the call. From there the usual process.

Issue? That some push notifications, such as whatsapp does not work, surprisingly those of viber do.

Of course, it is still a problem for my gevey because there are users who, once activated with the original sim, enter the gevey and without problem.

In short, it works, but with nuances.

How do you hack the iPhone 4? redsn0w does it already pro yes? or do you have to select an option there? sn0wbreeze also works well with iOS5? and what hacktiva?

Snowbreeze works as follows. You download the snowbreeze on the one hand and on the other a copy of iOS 5 (there are a thousand links).
You open the snowbreze and you have three options, all of them keep you baseband. If you want to hacktivate it, click on EXPERT MODE and you will see the option and also jailbreke it.
Once it is done, it asks you to put the iPhone in DFU mode, follow the steps and after doing a few things iREB will tell you that it is ready. You have created a custom firmware on your desktop.
You go to iTunes and it will tell you that it has found an iPhone in recovery mode, ALT + Click on restore and it will ask you to select an installation package, select that custom firmware that you have created and leave it. When iTunes is finished, you will have iOS5 hacktivated and jailbreked, yes, tethered for now.

Hello good! I would like to know if having the 4.3.5 and the 04.10.01 baseband released with gevey sim, if I can update to IOS 5 by making a custom firmware to keep that baseband with snowbreeze as you decide, or I cannot do it and if there is any other option with which you can use the gevey sim. When making the custom signature, does it get hacked? Thanks a lot!

Sure you can, see the answer just above

I have restored my iPhone 5 to IOS 4, with redsn0w and jailbrikeado keeping the baseband of 4.3.3, I use the gevey ultra, and since I updated to version 5 the furiousmod does not work for me, I mean I have to do it manually and it works, Does anyone know if there is any problem with the furiousmod and IOS5 jailbrikeado? it is very torturous to have to boot tethered and go through the process of calling 122

Greetings from PR, I take advantage of the fact that they are talking about the gevey and I have a huge doubt I have not updated to the ios5 I have the 4.3.3 (iPhone 4) and my operator is Tmobile if I use the gevey I could use it with the 3G of Tmo .. Of them is that I am already tired of using it as an iPod. I would appreciate if you can help me.

I have my iPhone 4 with 4.3.5 all legal .. just released with gevey .. now my question is: I can make a custom iOS 5 keeping the same baseband BUT I DON'T BE BOUND I don't care for the moment having it jailbrekiado that everything work well and that I can always occupy my gevey sim

  10.   boycott said

hello I use gevey in 4.3.5 but without jailbreak because I happened to downgrade and such that I have gotten used to being without it. The fact is that I already want to have iOS 5 but since there is no untethered jailbreak yet I prefer not to have it, so my question is… creating a custom iOS 5 firmware (so as not to upload the baseband), the jailbreak is also made automatically ? Or is it just like the "normal" iOS 5 firm only with the iOS4 baseband? Thanks a lot!!
the best blog by far 😉

have gentlemen I would like to contribute my experience with gevey. It works with custom filmware: YES, I stop with a bit of skill, it does not always give you the welcome message and in my case it does not give me the signal bar but I still do the steps calculating the time of the normal steps, another trick is to take and put the sim until it gives you the welcome message, don't expect it or the signal bar but do the steps anyway. Another thing is that when you take the signal from the operator, it takes a single bar, but you can install ultrasn0w to increase the signal (even if it is not compatible with your baseband). Install ultrasn0w and the signal will be full. I hope I have helped and ask anything.

    1.    Mariano said

For those who do not give you the welcome message, the best and fastest option is to go to Settings> Phone> SIM Applications> English, and the message will appear there.

To all those who ask, with snowbreeze YES you can make a custom that keeps baseband and does not jailbreak, what I don't know is if it will work for you. This is not an exact science, to me without jailbreak + hacktivate when I put the Gevey it tells me that I have to activate it. But they can try.

Hello friends, here is a video that I made where you can see if I could unlock my iPhone 4 with the 04.10.01 baseband. I have official iOS 5 and I use the Gevey SIM

  14.   Cerial iQ said

Thanks, colleague Chuy for the video, here I leave the method that I use to activate my gevey, as you will notice, there is no difference with the video:
1.- We turn on our iphone without any sim inserted.
2.- Since this on we introduce our gevey along with our sim.
3.- We wait for the message to appear with the instructions of the gevey on the screen
4.- We accept, for a moment the upper part where the signal bars are, the phrase Searching will appear ...
5.- when the phrase No Service appears, we wait the 15 seconds recommended by the instructions (even though I wait 20 seconds).
6.- After this time we make the call to 112 and keep it for 2 seconds and hang up.
7.- Once the call is finished, we go to the settings and activate the airplane mode, we wait for the message that there is no sim to appear.
8.- We deactivate the airplane mode, a sim error message will appear and a short time later it will take a signal.
9.- If everything went well, we should already have a signal, otherwise we will have to repeat the process.
On the other hand, I will try to explain how to get full functionality of your iphone using gevey.
The first problem that occurs with a foreign iPhone and gevey is the caller ID and the dialing systems, some will see that when they are called, the iPhone does not show the name of the contact, but the number, although with the wrong international key.
To fix this there are several methods, I will list a few.
1.- Go to the regional configuration (settings-> general-> international and regional format) and place the one that is correct according to your need (in my case Mexico)
2.- Install "CallID-format fix" from cydia (requires Jailbreak and I have not personally tested it).
3.- If the previous 2 do not work you can do it like a barbarian, restore the settings (settings-> general-> reset and reset settings) this is the one that works for me, you just have to be careful with the tethered type jailbreaks and Those that make use of some exploit in userland mode since it will be frozen when starting and we will have to restore.
Another problem is the push notifications on iphones that were activated using hacktivate because they did not have the original sim from the iphone provider. (it is always advisable to use the original sim to activate)
For push notifications to work again, you have to make use of SAM (Subscriber Artificial Module), just search a little (google is our friend xD) and they should already work, if they still don't work just try some fix of the push notifications (push doctor, etc)
Now I will explain how to solve all these problems on my iphone 4. (the caller ID and push notifications did not work for me)
    Features of my iphone:
Iphone 4 from telus Canada on iOS 5 with baseband 03.10.01 (bb from iOS 4.2.1) and gevey blue packaging (probably Chinese).
To use in movistar in Mexico.
1.- Restore using my ipsw created with sn0wbreeze so that it does not update the baseband (this one without jailbreak)
2.- Activate iphone using the original iphone sim (in my case telus sim) and configure it as a new iphone, with this push notifications already work (I recommend NOT to load any backup copy to obtain better results)
3.- Remove the original sim and restore the settings (settings-> general-> reset and reset settings) with this, the problems of caller ID and national / international dialing codes disappear. (I recommend NOT to load any backup for best results)
4.- Jailbreak using redsn0w with its corresponding reboot tethered.
5.- Activate Gevey using the method described above. (the video of the partner helps).
With this I have my gevey and my iphone working at 100% without any strange problem:
    Markings: OK
    Caller ID: OK
    Push Notifications: OK
Internet via 3G: OK (3G and Internet settings are set manually).
For those who want to follow this but do not need to jailbreak just go to point 3 and activate your gevey
For those who need to use hacktivation for not having the original sim, the idea would be this (although I have not tried it).
1.- Restore using a custom that does not update the baseband, it is valid with or without jailbreak, if a custom with jailbreak is used, when creating it you must use the hacktivate option
2.- If you restore with a custom without jailbreak, you have to do it with redsn0w, this will hacktivara, if the custom already has jailbreak + hacktivate, go to the next step.
3.- Use SAM (Subscriber Artificial Module) tutorial to remove the hacktivate and activate legally.
4.- Check that push notifications now work (most of the time they do) and if not, apply some fix to the notifications (push doctor for example)
With this, the notifications should work (remember I did not test it).
A good application to test push notifications is iPush Test which you can get from the appstore or from this link (it's free):
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/push-notification-test-ipush/id320210260?mt=8

And if you have already updated without maintaining the baseband you do to use the gevey sim or to recover the baseband.

  16.   boycott said

@ ifnavarr0 you just can't, you have to wait for them to discover a hole in the new baseband

  17.   boycott said

Someone to confirm that you have updated to iOS5 (with reds0w or sn0wbreeze) keeping the baseband and without jailbreak and that it works for you please? It would be the solution to all gevey users who want iOS5 and do not want tethered, simply that they can use their mobile.
    thank you very much

I did the jailbreak with sn0wbreeze without hactivate only with cydia tethered and the gevey sim works for me, IF IT WORKS !! You have to follow the steps described, wait the 15 seconds when I say "no service", to enjoy I have achieved it

The tweaks that work very well that I am using myself are, multifl0w, sbsettings, dietbar, activator, all very well, and in sbsettings now it brings a function to rename the operator

  20.   icon00 said

I share these steps so that you can fix the caller id, easy and simple, it worked for me too, the issue of the battery as it yields a little more, I am testing more tweaks I will be commenting that such, what I did at the beginning when I installed the tweaks was the following
First of all, install the hackulo repo, so install appsync +5 and its corresponding ones (install0us, etc) next to them ifile (from the repo of your convenience) I did these two first since it does not ask to restart the phone.
At this point I have not yet inserted the gevey or anything, it is without sim.
Then I start to install together sbsettings, afc2add (I think that's what it is called, to be able to navigate via ssh with ifunbox) diet bar, multifl0w I install all these together, knowing that it will ask me for a rebbot.
After doing the reboot (do not install the gevey, until the reboot, that is, wait for it to turn on) I insert the gevey with my sim, and do the process, do not wait for a signal line to appear as usual , rather wait for it to say no service after accepting the gevey menu, and there they count up to 15 seconds, dial 112-2 seconds airplane mode, and wait for the error message (in less than a minute) and woala, I hope that it serves them.

1- Search and install Caller ID Format Fix in Cydia. This is a free to download jailbreak tweak available in BigBoss Repository.

2- you need to navigate in to the filesystem of your iOS device and delete a certain key and string. To do that, you obviously need software. i-Funbox for Windows or iPhone Explorer for Mac.

3- Launch whatever software you are going to use for this and navigate to this path:

    /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/PhoneFormats/UIMobileCountryCodes.plist

4- Right click on UIMobileCountryCodes.plist and open it in the notepad.

    5- Change the 202 to 001

6- Change the gr to (your country 2 letter code eg it for Italy, fr for France)

7- Save and Reboot your iPhone.

Sorry I forgot, when I asked to reboot, I continue to reboot and when it starts to turn on at that moment I begin the process of putting it in DFU mode, so that it starts with ibooty, I miss this step, then you know greetings

Hello, I have an IPhone4 with the gevey. My operator is yoigo and as you know it alternates yoigo and movistar coverage. Since I upgraded to iOS 5.X, when I have yoigo coverage and make a call, I get "Call finished", and I can't receive calls either. Right now I have the operator selection in manual only with movistar. But I would also like to have Yoigo's. Do you know how it can be solved? Thanks a lot.

Hello, there are many times that the gevey poster does not always appear ... But I discovered that while it says searching after turning it on, if you go quickly to settings> phone> SIM applications, a gevey menu appears ... There you press about and exit the menu ... After 5 seconds the gevey artel will appear and when doing all the steps the cell phone picks up a signal
