All the news in iOS 11 Beta 2

Seventeen days ago, Apple delighted us with all the novelties of iOS 11 in a splendid and complete keynote to present the Worldwide Developer Conference. And although it can be said that the launch rate has been more or less adequate, the truth is that the arrival of the second beta version has made many of us eternal, and not because the first one goes bad, on the contrary, but because we are eager to taste what we have left to taste.

Thus, yesterday Wednesday June 21, coinciding with the Summer Solstice and the European Music Day, Apple released the second beta version of iOS 11 for developers, something somewhat unusual since the betas are usually released on Monday or Tuesday, but even in this the company likes to surprise us.

iOS 11, buggy stability

Well, yes, I think that nobody should miss that we are facing a beta version, that is, a iOS 11 trial version that is intended for developers with two main purposes. First, detect all the possible bugs and errors that may exist so that they can be solved in later versions; second, that developers can prepare updates to their applications to make them compatible with the new functions of the operating system.

It follows that iOS 11, at least in my particular case, has been enormously stable, which does not mean that there are not certain failures. For example, in these two weeks the Trello app does not open, I have had a couple of unexpected reboots on the iPad, and some Safari pages have also unexpectedly closed.

With the second beta of iOS 11, Apple tries to solve these errors, and many others that the developers and the Cupertino team have been detecting in the first preliminary version, but many new bugs are also introduced and some of the already known issues persist, like that unexpected "pop-up" that appears when restarting an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, or that SOS notification that appears even when an alert is canceled. Therefore, the recommendation remains the usual: iOS 11 Beta 2 is not a stable version and therefore should only be installed on secondary devices. so this is not yet a stable beta version and should only be installed on secondary devices.

Along with the usual bug fixes, new bug fixes, and general performance and stability improvements, iOS 11 Beta 2 also introduces some small news adjustments and changes, such as those that we are going to tell you below.

What's new in iOS 11 Beta 2?

In total, seven are the news discovered in this second version of iOS 11 tests:

  • A new option in General -> Multitasking allows us change the Dock settings on the iPad to disable the "Show Recents" option that shows the latest apps we have used. Thus, with this option disabled we will only see the apps docked in the Dock.
  • New options for the "Do not disturb while driving" function.
  • Dictation adds support for the “Hindi” language, one of the two official languages of India.
  • New option for disable Control Center from applications, which prevents it from appearing when you swipe up and makes it accessible only from the home screen.
  • New options for activate experimental features in Safari (Settings -> Safari -> Advanced).
  • New "Save to Files" option to save photos, documents and other files in the Files application. When "Save to files" is used, a menu appears that allows us to choose a location. The option "Save to Files" replaces the previous one to add to iCloud. Additionally, services such as OneDrive, Box, PDF Expert, and others are now also shown as locations in the Files app, although the new extensions are not enabled yet.
  • New animation when the top of the screen is pulled to open the lock screen / notification center or when it is pulled up to access the main screen again.

One of the most annoying bugs of BETA 1 was leaving a folder where you had several apps, the app icons were left with the "wiggle" effect, this was corrected in BETA 2.

They should improve the stability of the battery that continues to consume a lot.
Now the status bar the icons on it turn black when the screen turns white

Good post ... but the closure made him die .. with that "you dare to try iOS 11" lol that sounds like sarcasm knowing that to test it you must pay $ 99 to create a developer account ...

Hi ADV. It is certainly possible that I had "happier endings" hahaha, even so there is no sarcasm in my ending of "Do you dare to try iOS 11?". I am NOT a developer, and on the 5th at night I was already testing iOS11 on my iPad, and there it is, now with Beta 2, and of course, I have not paid 99 dollars. That it is aimed at developers does not mean that others cannot test it, yes, not through official channels. But hey, if I don't convince you, you can see how to try iOS 11 for FREE without being a developer in this other post that I leave you below. Thank you very much for participating and I hope to "see you" again here.
