Good news for all those users who have an iPhone with the Face ID broken. Apple has finally managed to manufacture a TrueDepth camera repair kit, and thus be able to replace it in those terminals that have it damaged.
Until now, it was not possible to repair it. Had to change the whole screen. If the Face ID function broke down and your iPhone was under warranty, perfect, Apple would exchange it for another terminal and problem solved, but if the warranty period had already expired, the only solution was change the whole screen. It seems that this will change in a few days.
According to an internal Apple memo, Apple Retail Stores and Authorized Repair Services will soon be able to repair a iPhone XS or later that has the Face ID broken. Until now, this was not feasible, and the entire screen had to be replaced.
This is because there will be a new repair part in the official Apple spare parts catalog shortly. It will be a TrueDeph front camera module that contains all the parts of the camera and the Face ID sensor, and thus can be exchanged for the damaged module.
The note also explains that said module will only be compatible with the iPhone XS and later, so the first iPhone that came onto the market with Face ID, the iPhone X.
At the moment it is only one internal information note from the company, so don't go to your Apple store tomorrow demanding such a repair because you just read it here. We will have to wait a few days for them to have enough stock of said part, and for it to be operational in the Apple spare parts catalog.
If you have been with your Face ID broken for some time, hold on for a few more days, and soon you will be able to go to an Apple Store or an official repair shop and repair your iPhone. But don't forget first ask for budget, lest the collar cost you more than the dog….
