Apple accused in Japan of anti-competitive behavior

Japan today is the third country that generates the most income for Apple's pockets. In recent months, news has been published related to the company's practices in the country, practices with which it has become the favorite platform of the Japanese.

The antitrust commission accused Apple a few weeks ago of pressure carriers to sell the iPhone below cost, which resulted in more expensive associated fees for users, so that operators could recover part of the money they lost due to this condition from Apple if they wanted to continue selling their terminals. The problem is now found in the App Store.

Last year Yahoo Japan launched Game Plus, a platform where you can find a large number of games designed in HTML 5, which you can play without downloading them at any time, we just have to run them with the corresponding browser. Yahoo Japan's plans were to expand this service with another where we would find productivity applications, applications that would also be designed with HTML 5 so that it would not be necessary at any time to have to download them. Of course, Apple was not amused and began to pressure Yahoo.

As we can read in the Nikkei publication, 52 companies participated in the launch of Game Plus, among which we can find Square Enix and Yahoo, but shortly after it apparently stopped investing money in the platform, due to the pressure it was receiving from Apple, since this platform was a clear alternative to the App Store. According to the Japan Fair Trade Commission, a body that is collecting information about this problem, an action by Apple that may constitute interference in Yahoo's business and is prohibited by antitrust laws.
