Yesterday officially began the trial between Epic Games and Apple, a trial that in recent weeks has revealed a large number of curiosities of the goings-on of both companies and that will continue in the coming weeks. The latest leak shows us Epic's roadmap for Fortnite.
Apparently both Apple and Epic were negotiating to create a package of services that would offer players access to the Fortnite Club (a monthly subscription that Epic launched at the end of last year for 11,99 euros / dollars per month), Apple Music and Apple TV + for 20 euros / dollars per month, which represents a saving of 6 euros / dollars if these options are treated. independently.

The documents that have been leaked show details of how the revenue would be managed. If the subscription was purchased through Apple apps, the company would keep $ 15 of the monthly amount while Epic would take the remaining $ 5. If the user signed up for this pack via Fortnite, Epic would keep $ 12 and Apple would take the rest.
We do not know how far the negotiations of this pack reached, but if we take into account that Apple TV + is included, the negotiations would have been carried out after March 2019, when Apple officially introduced its streaming video service, although it did not go live until November of that same year.
The agreement would include Apple branded content within the game universe, content that was finally introduced but to expose Apple's monopoly practices.
The relationship between the two companies collapsed when Epic introduced an in-game payment system that skipped the Apple Store. It was at this time that Apple expelled the game from the App Store (as did Google) and disputes between the two companies began.
