One of the problems that Apple has every time it releases a big update to its mobile operating system (iOS 7, for example), is that many of the applications are updated with the new built-in APIs and, therefore, are no longer compatible with older versions from iOS.
For the most modern devices this is not a problem but if we have an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad that cannot install iOS 7, we will find the inability to install or update applications that depend on a specific version of the system.
Thanks to the clue that a reader has sent us from Mexico (thanks Daniel), we can see that Apple could adopt a new policy with older iOS devices. Specifically, we can read the following message:
Download an older version of this app?
The current version requires iOS 5.0 or later, but you can download the latest compatible version
This is the message that appeared after trying to download the Facebook application and although can't enjoy the latest news that is in the most current version, yes you have been able to install an older version that is compatible with the version of iOS that your iPod Touch has.
Without a doubt, this is great news and although I do not have any device to test, it would be nice for all of you who find yourself in this situation try to download an application that you could not before install due to not having a specific version of iOS.
More information - Apple's next event could be held on October 15
Man, it would be a nice touch for Apple (note the irony)… ..to stop having that blatant programmed obsolescence that it has always displayed, is something they should have worked on for a long time.
Tried with whatsapp and lets install it, but the gentlemen of whatsapp keep saying that the version is expired
The gentlemen of WhatsApp are the worst, we have created a monster together. I installed the latest version and did not receive messages for having the jailbreak, thank goodness I had an old copy. And now every two by three they send me messages to update and they send them to me at 2 or 3 in the morning. They are the worst, bad app, cool ... And on top of that, now annual payment for new users ... There is nothing worse than a monopoly (you'll see Android when it shows its true face with the market share it has in Spain)
It is not bad that Apple thinks of everyone equally, the same I say for the developers of the apps, we all have the right to a decent service, it says in the Spanish constitution.
