We have been short of news for a few weeks on everything related to Apple. Whenever there are periods of news shortages, rumors begin to appear about the products that Apple may or in this case, should be working on. Today it is the turn of a rumor that states that Apple is developing a virtual reality glasses with two 8k screens.
According to this rumor, the iPhone manufacturer would have planned to launch these virtual reality glasses in 2020 and with which we could not only enjoy virtual reality games, but also allow us to make use of augmented reality applications, a technology in which Apple is paying more attention according to the latest movements that the company has made in recent years.
The name of the project is T288 and according to the sources that have informed CNET, these glasses would offer us 2 screens of 8k each and would function completely independently, without having to use a Mac or an iPhone / iPad at any time to be able to display the content.
It all seems so pretty, but it makes no sense to implement two screens with 8k resolution 4 centimeters from the eyes, since the human eye is no longer capable of distinguishing beyond 2k screens, so implementing this type of screen would be wasting a technology that would also increase the price of the device.
Tim Cook has stated on more than one occasion that augmented reality has more future and utility than virtual reality. With the launch of ARKit last year, the Cupertino-based company took the first step towards becoming the largest augmented reality platform. But if this rumor comes true, it could also become the biggest virtual reality platform in 2020.
Both augmented and virtual reality, they have two different uses, at least to my understanding. While virtual reality allows us to immerse ourselves in games as if we were part of them, augmented reality is an ideal complement to carry out specific tasks where a help or guide on the screen is fantastic since it avoids having to look away to be able to consult technical documentation.
