Apple doubles space at Fifth Avenue store

Apple began work on the remodel of its iconic Fifth Avenue store earlier this year, but little is known about the company's plans. New information from Bloomberg, however, offers more details on the reform and Apple's plans for the store to grow "more than double the original size."

During his appearance on Wednesday, the president of Boston Properties, Douglas Linde, explained that Apple is going to double the size of its store on Fifth Avenue. Boston Properties is the co-owner of the building owned by General Motors on Fifth Avenue, which in turn houses the Apple Store and its famous glass cube. Linde explained during her speech that Apple has been the "mysterious tenant we've been talking about for over a year" when we discussed occupying the empty retail space in the Fifth Avenue building.

The Apple company itself has not commented anything about its plans for this renovation of the store located on New York's Fifth Avenue, but an authorized spokesperson for the company led by Tim Cook did explain to Bloomberg that Apple plans an "incredible" location "where our customers will be able to enjoy new services and experiences in a much larger space than before ”.

The Fifth Avenue business district has suffered in recent months when it comes to renters. A record number of vacancies have been reported due to rising rents and falling sales and traffic in the area. Bloomberg attributes part of this to President Donald Trump's presence at Trump Tower, which is just two blocks away. This has led to an increase in the police presence in the area, as well as traffic congestion and the limitation of pedestrian crossing.

Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, among the most expensive locations in the world's business districts, has gained a record amount of available retail space as retailers opposed expensive landlord-imposed rents. In addition, the presence of President Donald Trump in the Trump Tower, just two blocks south, has been associated with the drop in traffic in the area, causing the presence of the police to establish barriers and limit the free movement of pedestrians.

Earlier this month, Apple officially moved its Fifth Avenue store after multiple reports that the company was planning a makeover for its expansion. Last year, Apple revamped its Union Square store in San Francisco with a revamped design and "Genius Grove," and hopefully the same ideas will be applied in the overhaul of the well-known Fifth Avenue store. While the works at the Apple store last, the store continues to serve customers and visitors in a space that was left vacant right next to the glass cube, that of FAO Schwarz.

There are eight Apple Stores in Manhattan. The flagship store is located at 767 Fifth Avenue. The Apple Store with the impressive glass entrance is not the largest, despite being the most famous. The largest is the lovely store in the Meatpacking District at 401 West 14th Street. Would you like to buy something else besides your new gadgets from Apple? Then the shop-in-shop at Macy's is what you are looking for. Here you will find Apple products on the ground floor, among perfumes and cosmetics. Another Apple Store worth visiting during a shopping session is the store at Westfield World Trade Center. The elegance of Apple products perfectly match the modern architecture of this shopping center.
