Apple extends movie rental term to 24 hours

In case anyone had any doubts about Apple's growing interest in video services, after the launch of Apple TV 4k and the continuous rumors about the investment that it plans to make in the next year and that is around 1.000 million bucks, cupertino boys They have extended the rental period of the movies that they offer us through iTunes once we have started its reproduction.

Last March, Apple introduced a new option that allows you to rent a movie on a device and enjoy it on any other, an option that we had not available so far in an incompressible way. Since a few days ago, when we rent a movie on iTunes instead of having just 24 hours to watch it in full, the term is extended until 48.

Apple has announced this new change through the support notes it just updated regarding the iTunes Store. If you rent a movie but you do not plan to watch it quickly, Apple allows us to keep the rental for the next 30 days, but when the playback begins, the term is reduced to 48 hours, after which we will have to pay again if we have not had the opportunity to see it completely.

There are many people who finds that the iTunes Movies section doesn't make much sense in today's market for streaming video services, but keep in mind that the content is different, since both Netflix and HBO and the rest of the services offer us movies that have been on the market for more than two years, while iTunes Movies acts as a lifelong video store, where the films are available two or three months after their release in theaters, in most cases before their release on Blu-ray, and where we can also enjoy the extras offered by the version in this format.
