The arrival of the iPad Pro brought us a stylus called the Apple Pencil. But Apple was not very amused that people called him that, especially when Steve Jobs had denied him years ago stating that a stylus was not needed to be able to interact with the screen of the first iPhone that was just presented.

The Apple Pencil, at least for the first few days, had a wide acceptance in the market despite having a fairly high price, 99 euros. The first few weeks the availability of this accessory was quite scarce, which caused many users to turn to eBay to resell them at a higher price.

The latest beta that Apple has released of iOS 9.3, has removed an important functionality of the Apple Pencil: the ability to power use the device as a replacement for our fingers to select options and menus in the applications, switch between applications, press buttons ... In general, it has eliminated all the navigation possibilities through the Apple Pencil in iOS.

Many are the users who have become accustomed to use Apple Pencil as the sole means of interacting with iPad Pro, which allows greater versatility when working with applications such as Pixelmator. If finally Apple decides to eliminate this functionality in the final version of iOS 9.3, all users who use it daily to edit content will be forced to use their fingers with the device to perform certain actions within the applications, something that goes against the productivity this device is supposed to offer.

But not only does it take away the functionality of applications to edit photos such as Pixelmator, but also native video editors such as iMovie make the Apple Pencil a useless device when it comes to mounting videos directly from the iPad Pro.

Removal of this functionality greatly limits original stylus functionality and it is being a real bad to be for all those users who have become accustomed to using the Apple Pencil as the only means to interact with the screen of the iPad Pro.

According to Relay.fm citing internal sources of the company:

The removal of the functionality of the Apple Pencil is not due to a bug in the beta of iOS 9.3, but responds to a decision by Apple.

It seems that the Cupertino boys are not amused that users are using the Apple Pencil as stylus were formerly used on PDA screens, that is, for everything. Apple doesn't want that exclusive reliance on the Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro.

UPDATE: Apple has confirmed to the publication The Verge, that this feature will return to devices in the next beta of iOS 9.3
