Apple has to increase iCloud capacity

iCloud Drive

The hopes placed before the imminent WWDC 2016 that begins on June 13 are very high and in many areas. Improvements to iOS 10, OS X (or macOS if it ends up being called that), tvOS and watchOS, as well as possible new products such as the Apple Watch or new Mac computers. But there is an issue in which we have been waiting for improvements for a long time and that they never arrive, and if any have arrived, it has been too scarce: iCloud. Apple was one of the first companies to rely on the cloud for users to save data, but we still have ridiculous storage capacities. The time has come for iCloud to really be an option and things have to be changed. Offering free storage depending on the device you buy could be a great alternative.

Saving our documents in the cloud, photos and videos to be able to access from anywhere without having to carry external memories is a great plan, and Apple continually tries to convince us that it is the way to go. The cloud is the future, there is little doubt about that, but we need a cloud that is really useful. Buying a 128GB iPhone or worse, a 256GB iPad and having only 5GB of iCloud storage is an aberration. It is clear that cloud storage has to be paid forYou just have to look at the prices of other services and the continuous restrictions that Microsoft has imposed on its personal cloud, once as generous and now as rickety as Apple's. But aren't we paying enough already?

One of the alternatives that many are suggesting, and that would also allow Apple to differentiate itself from other similar services, is to offer free storage capacity, perhaps limited to a period of time, according to the capacity of the device you buy. The price of the maximum capacity that Apple offers in iCloud is € 120 for 1TB of space for a whole year. We are not going to reach that level in all users, but wouldn't it be reasonable for those who have bought a MacBook, an iPad, an iPhone and an Apple Watch? It would be a perfect way to do what Apple does too: loyalty to its users. Offering free GB in iCloud when you buy a new Apple device and accumulating it if you buy several devices could be a perfect strategy to convince many users and to keep others. We will see if the thinking heads of Cupertino this time surprise us with something.

At least they should give 5Gb for each device that you keep active. And perhaps more Gb proportionally to the capacity of the device. Eg In 16Gb devices it could be 5Gb, in 32Gb 8Gb, in 64Gb 16Gb, in 128Gb 32Gb and in 256Gb 64Gb. For Mac 128Gb independent of its capacity.

With this scheme, I would have at least 10Gb when having 2 devices or 21Gb when having a 32-size iPad and a 64-size iPhone. Either method would be fine. At least with 10Gb I had enough space for the backup of my devices.
