The long-awaited renewal of the Apple TV brought us very good impressions, compared to the previous model, with which we could barely do AirPlay and little else. One of the limitations that tvOS offered us when it came to the market was the download limit of an application or game, not that it could be higher than 200 MB, so as not to saturate the space of the device, with how simple it would have been to launch models with greater capacity, instead of 32 and 64 GB. Of course, the developers could add more content, content that would be downloaded as we progressed in-game, but required to wait for the content download to finish in order to enjoy it.
From today Apple has changed the operating policy of applications and games compatible with Apple TV, so that developers can now create applications or games that occupy up to 4 GB, applications and games that they will be fully downloaded when we buy them, avoiding additional download periods that slow down the gaming experience.
But it also expands the space for additional content up to 20 GB, so that developers can offer more resources on demand, thus expanding the complete and rich user experience that Apple wants to offer to all its customers. These additional data will be downloaded as necessary for the user. For example, if we download a game that occupies 4 GB with the first two levels, as we progress through the game it will automatically download the following levels.
With every new update Apple continues to improve how Apple TV works, not only at the software level, but also through modifications that allow developers to work in a simpler way, as in this case.
