Apple is doing something similar. He has detected a display failure on a certain batch of third-generation iPads Air and is now getting them repaired free of charge. Bravo for Apple.
Apple has just launched a free repair program for certain very specific units of the third generation iPad Air. They are affected by a bug that can cause the screen to suddenly go blank. The company's statement reads as follows:
Apple has determined that a limited number of third-generation iPad Air devices may have a permanent blank screen under certain circumstances. A brief blink or flash may appear before the screen goes blank.
The company claims that this affects a particular production batch manufactured between March and October 2019. Any iPad that experiences this problem will be repaired by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service free of charge.
Users of an iPad Air who have suffered this failure to go blank, should go to an official Apple support service, make an appointment at a company store, or contact Apple technical support for repair via the Apple Repair Center.
This new repair program covers the third generation iPad Air models and lasts for two years after your first purchase of the unit.
