Apple releases iOS 12.1 Beta 3 alongside watchOS 5.1 and tvOS 12.1

Only 24 hours after Apple released iOS 12.0.1 solving some bugs such as the problem of not charging the battery connecting the Lightning cable or that of the WiFi connections, the company just released iOS 12.1 Beta 3, the third test version of this next update that Apple released just a week after launching iOS 12.

This third Beta also comes from the hand of the corresponding preview versions of tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1, which will be released together when polished, expected in a few weeks. As news they include some features that we had already seen in iOS 12 but that were not included in the initial version.

In the version for iPhone, iOS 12.1 includes the possibility of adjusting the portrait mode, leaving the user to decide how blurred they want the background of the photos that are captured using this option available on the iPhone 7 Plus and later. It also enables eSIM support, something that will allow the use of two phone numbers on our iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, although we will have to wait for the operators to support it as well, something that I doubt will happen when the update arrives given the problems they are having in activating the eSIM with the Apple Watch LTE. It also includes group calls via FaceTime and 70 new emoji.

The update to tvOS 12.1 seems to bring less interesting news, unless the user notices, because we have not found anything remarkable. We therefore assume that it will be solutions to detected bugs and improvements in stability. On the side of the Apple Watch with watchOS 5.1 we find new colored dials, support for group calls via FaceTime (audio only) and the new emoji. These updates are currently only available to developers, reaching users of the Public Beta in the next few hours.
