Apple launches new two-step verification for Apple ID and iCloud

Verification-AppleID

Apple today launched a new verification method for our Apple ID and iCloud account which consists of a two-step system. In this way, every time you want to make a purchase on a new device that you have not previously used with your Apple ID, or if you want to modify your account details, in addition to entering your usual password, you will receive another key on a "trusted" device that you will also have to enter. You will receive this key by SMS or through the «Find my iPhone» application (if installed).

Once you have activated the service there will be no other way to make changes to your account. The security questions will disappear, and it also ensures that only you will be able to reset your password. To do this, you will need to have the trusted device (which you can add during the service configuration), and a security key that you will need to print during the same process. These two requirements will be essential, and Apple's telephone support service will not be able to reset the password from the moment this new security mechanism is active.

At the moment this service is only active in USA, UK, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand, and there is no news of when it will spread to other countries. Apple's Apple Care employees are already receiving information about this new two-step security system to be able to answer questions from users who activate it.

The security of Apple's online services was called into question last year when Mat Honan, a contributor to outlets like Gizmodo, saw how his iCloud account was hacked and all the content on his computer was deleted Through the reset option offered by the «Find my Mac» service. This new two-step security mechanism makes this virtually impossible for it to happen again.

It would not be bad that before complicating what is already good, they simplify some aspects that iCloud lacks, such as unsubscribing from the service ... Ah! and one more thing; see the cancellation section in the terms and conditions of iCloud always before accepting (http://www.apple.com/legal/icloud/es/terms.html)
