One of the options offered by Apple in this latest version of the operating system for iPhones and iPads is not to install the new version on them. Yes, it may seem contradictory since with the news of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 everyone seems to be quite satisfied but surely some users do not want to install this new version for whatever reason. Thus Apple allows users to skip this version if you think it is not necessary to update.
By not updating to iOS 15 you do not lose security updates
This is another important point to keep in mind if we do not update to iOS 15, and that is that we will continue to receive security updates when it touches. For this, Apple activated an option in the Settings that is to update only the security versions. To do this you have to open the Configuration settings of the iPhone, iPad or iPod, then click on General> Software update> Automatic updates and remove the updates option automatic. In this way we can activate the option to receive updates from iOS 14 without going to iOS 15.
The possible theory that runs through the network about this option is that for the next version of iOS that will be 16 it is possible that Apple requires an increase in RAM in the devices. This will cause several of them to be left out of the news and that is why Apple carries out this pilot test in this version of iOS 15 that still works on devices such as previous to the iPhone X or as old as an iPad Air 2 for example ... In any case The possible jump would be to the next version and I personally recommend that if you can, update to the latest version available which is right now iOS 15.
