Apple Music reaches 40 million subscribers

It seems that Apple's music streaming service has stepped on the accelerator and in the last two months and has notably increased the number of subscribers who make use of Apple Music. Apple France content director Steven Huon has posted a tweet claiming that currently Apple Music has 40 million users.

The latest Apple Music figures were made public by Eddy Cue, stating that its streaming music service had grown by two million users in just one month, reaching 38 million users. Almost a month later that figure has increased again, reaching 40 million.

If the Huon numbers are correct, Apple Music's monthly growth rate reaches two million, a figure that is not bad at all, although most of that growth is being registered in the United States. When Eddy Cue announced that they had reached 38 million subscribers, he claimed that some 8 million users were trying the music service in the free 3-month period offered by the Cupertino-based company.

The latest official figures from Spotify, state that the Swedish streaming music company had 71 million subscribers, that was about a couple of months ago, when the documentation of its IPO began to leak. According to that documentation, Spotify has growth forecasts that put the number of paid subscribers between 92 and 96 million, somewhat lower figures compared to the growth experienced by the service over the last year.

The latest innovation that Apple has presented in its streaming music service is found in iOS 11.3 and the new section of music videos, a section that had always been there, but now it is much more visible gaining a greater prominence in the face of users.
