The United States Patent and Trademark Office just published a series of 43 patents granted to Apple in recent weeks. But of all the patents, one is striking that has to do with the Israeli company that Apple bought a couple of years ago called PrimeSense, which allows you to control by gestures, a television, a desk or a device simply by moving your hands.

This system is very similar if not the same that Microsoft uses with Kinect, but Apple I would try to enter 3D gestures to this technology to be able to add it to future Mac models or even to Apple TV and future iPhones or iPads.

The new patent granted to the Cupertino boys deals with the human-machine interface and the interface that combine multiple modes of interaction with the user. The Apple patent covers a method that includes receiving a three-dimensional map of at least one part of the user's body, allowing interaction with the system through movements of the head and eyes, through a 3D map that would be generated by our device. body.

The same patent also covers a method that includes receiving an image of the user's eye in a computerized system to be able to identify the user based on their retina and power. perform different functions depending on the direction of the gaze, allowing you to move, for example, the mouse cursor by orienting your eyes towards a specific corner of the screen or directly opening and controlling applications just by focusing your gaze on them.

I think there are still many years to go before we can see this technology applied on our Mac or iPhone But at least it gives us a clue where innovation will be headed in the next few years.
