Apple Pay is available at 5.000+ Wells Fargo ATMs

Contactless payment technology is long overdue to stay. Not only does it offer us security and speed, but it also allows us to integrate it into mobile devices, such as the iPhone with the NFC chip, as well as Android smartphones with their different payment methods.

Sooner or later, this technology had to reach ATMs, in order to avoid duplicating cards to duplicate cards. As usual, the United States has been the first country to start offering Apple Pay at ATMs, specifically Wells Fargo, the first bank to already offer Apple Pay at more than 5.000 ATMs throughout the country.

The operation of these ATMs is very similar to the process by which we make payments through Apple Pay. In order to access our account data, we just have to select the card in question, bring it to the ATM and enter our PIN. These new ATMs compatible with Apple Pay are also compatible with Android Pay, Samsung Pay, Wells Frago's wireless payment system. There are currently more than 5.000 ATMs that are compatible with NFC payment chips throughout the United States.

But the company wants to expand the number of compatible ATMs to 13.000 by the end of 2019. All ATMs that are currently compatible with this system based on the NFC chip offer the logo in the image above, to make it much easier to identify them. While implementing this technology in ATMs, at the beginning of the year, the bank provided an 8-digit code to users who wanted to withdraw money without a card, which together with the corresponding PIN allowed them to access their accounts. Bank of America is another of the banks that also has plans to start offering this withdrawal system via smartphone in the coming months.

In Spain, the new CaixaBank ATMs use the same technology.

Does that mean that when Apple Pay is available with CaixaBank, it will be able to do the same at its ATMs?
