Apple Pay is now available in Hong Kong

Apple pay

The Cupertino-based company just announced on the dedicated website for Apple Pay the arrival of this electronic payment technology in Hong Kong, hours after also announcing the arrival in France. As planned, Apple Pay has arrived in Hong Kong from the hand of American Express, but it is not the only one, but it has also done so with the support of Visa and Mastercard. After Hong Kong, there are now nine countries where Apple Pay is currently available after the United States, Canada, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, China and now Hong Kong.

Users of Apple devices compatible with this technology can now add their Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit or debit cards from Bank of China, DBS, Hang Seng Bank, HSBC and Standard Chartered. Soon BEA and HKT customers will also be compatible with this service. The people of Hong Kong can now use Apple Pay in more than 40 franchises, including of course the Apple Stores distributed throughout the country. The arrival of Apple Pay in Hong Kong takes place a few hours after the launch in France.

It is clear that Apple wants to accelerate the expansion process of Apple Pay especially in Europe and Asia. This same week Jennifer Bailey, head of Apple Pay, said that Apple is currently focusing on expanding this new form of payments in the countries that are generating the most income. Apple introduced this new form of payments with the launch of iOS 8 in 2014, only in the United States to later expand, more than a year later, to other countries, a process much slower than the company and users had wanted.
