“The next opportunity to change the world.” This is how Tim Cook's speech about watchOS, the new operating system for the Apple Watch, began. And, as we have already advanced in Actualidad iPhone, the Apple Watch will have native applications starting with watchOS 2. But little has been said about the applications. Instead, there has been talk of small but important improvements that will reach our wrists.
Photos in the spheres
A shortcoming that many of us could not understand was the impossibility of putting our photos as the desktop background of the Apple Watch. But, on the other hand, it is normal since we are talking about a first version of the Apple Watch operating system. Now not only can you put a photo in the background of your smartphone, but there is an option to see the photos in your album. If we choose this option, each time we raise our wrist to see the time, we will see a different photo.
Spheres with Time-Lapse
Another novelty is that there is a sphere in watchOS 2 in which we can see cities in "real" time. We will see an animation of the city that we choose at the exact time indicated by the clock. It is a more curious sphere than anything else, but there it is. Among the available cities we have New York, London and Hong Kong.
Third party complications
A novelty that developers will like is that starting with watchOS they will be able to include the small widgets that Apple has already dubbed "Complications". This means that we will have many more customization options in the spheres that allow this type of extras.
Time Travel
An option has been presented that is like "a time machine", allow me the license. With Time Travel we can roll the digital crown to see what is coming throughout the day. We will see the time and events appear on our wrist and, by pressing the digital crown, we will return to the current time.
Night Mode
As you can see in the screenshot, this night mode will make our Apple Watch with watchOS that nightstand clock that we all have or wish we had. When an alarm sounds, the side button serves as "snooze", the button turns off the music or alarm.
Connectivity
Until now, to add friends to the Apple Watch we needed an iPhone, something that can be annoying if we do not have it nearby. With watchOS we can add them directly from our wrists.
For the drawings, new colors have now been added. Something that may not be very important, but that will give our drawings a new dimension.
The latest in terms of connectivity is important, since now the Apple Watch is made compatible with FaceTime audio. Now it will be really useful.
Wallet
In the same way that we could already use Apple Pay from our Apple Watch, now we can use Apple's new digital wallet, Wallet, from our wrists.
Record voice memos
Why don't you add these things up front, Apple? Little needs to be explained, but we can record voice notes from the wrist that will be automatically transferred to our iPhone.
HomeKit
We already saw last March that the Apple Watch is compatible with HomeKit, but with watchOS 2 we can control all our HomeKit devices from the Apple Watch wherever we are. We can even regulate our thermostat from the digital crown.
Physical activity
There will also be news regarding our physical activity. Thanks to watchOS 2, Siri is smarter. We can tell it, for example, that we want to run a specific distance and it will notify us when we have done it. And now, when we achieve a goal, we will see our name engraved on the badge that we have earned.
You are missing one thing, that currently the logic of the apps is moved by the iphone, but now it will be moved by the apple watch itself
