Apple reaches a private settlement with the company that accused it of stealing its technology for the Apple Watch

Apple has reached a settlement with biometric sensor company Valencell, a company that sued the Cupertino-based company three years ago for stealing technology that was used in the Apple Watch. The agreement has not been officially announced, but it has been the runners blog The5krunners who has informed about the agreement.

According to this medium, the case that faced both companies has been resolved but neither of the two companies will comment on it, at least for now. Valencell filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Apple in January 2016 before the Eastern District Court of North Carolina, United States.

In the lawsuit, Apple was accused of infringing four of its patents, all related to heart rate sensing technology, in addition to accuse you of deceptive business practices and breach of contract, after the various conversations that both parties had months before the official presentation of the Apple Watch.

At the time, Valencell accused Apple of it was more financially beneficial to infringe patents than to pay to be able to make use of the technology, asserted that the practice was 'consistent with Apple CEO Steve Jobs' statement that Apple has always been cheeky when it comes to stealing great ideas.

valencell had requested a preliminary and permanent injunction to prevent future acts of infringement, as well as compensation for damages and an agreement for Apple to continue to use the company's licenses on the Apple Watch. Valencell is the company responsible for most of the biometric sensors that we can find in most wearables currently available on the market.
