Starting tomorrow, October 15, the first units of the Apple Watch Series 7 will begin to arrive to the first lucky ones. In Apple Watch there is no port or slot facing the user. We can only charge it through the magnetic charging base that comes in the box or other third parties. However, years ago it was introduced a hidden diagnostic port that allowed Apple to maintain smartwatches. It was under a tiny tab on one of the sides where we put a part of the strap.
The first Apple Watch Series 7 that are hitting the press leave to glimpse which Apple has removed the diagnostic port in its new generation of smart watches. This could have earned it the IP6X dust resistant certification that other generations lacked.
However, the port has not been sacrificed in vain. It is known that inside the clock there is a new module capable of connecting on the frequency of the 60,5 GHz wirelessly. This would allow Apple Access the device to restore watchOS or perform a maintenance scan. This requires a charging base that works at the same frequency that the FCC has confirmed exists.
