Apple revokes some certificates used in the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak via Safari

Revoked Pangu

Last Sunday, Pangu released the Chinese version of a jailbreak for iOS 9.2-9.3.3 That did not leave anyone indifferent: on the one hand we have a new jailbreak, but on the other we also have the feeling that the jailbreak is semi-tethered. They also found a way to jailbreak from iOS Safari, so you wouldn't need to use a computer, but Apple has already started revoking some of the certificates used in the latter system.

Since yesterday, many users trying to jailbreak their iOS device via Safari they encounter an error typical that we have seen many times when we want to download, for example, game emulators: «Unable to download the application. PPJailbreak cannot be installed at this time«. From my own experience, when we see this message we can give the option to try again as many times as we want, but normally, after a few seconds, we read the same message again.

You can still jailbreak iOS 9.3.3

System developers via Safari are working on a solution, but personally I am not quite convinced by the latest release of Pangu and 25PP. The best thing is always a tool like the ones that have been launched so far and forget about the kind of iTunes that these hackers try to sneak up on us. In any case, the best we can do today is use the Windows tool that has been available since last Sunday.

If you have jailbroken your device via Safari, it is most likely that sooner or later stop working. If this is the case, the PC tool will have to be used. Apple can revoke any corporate certificate at any time and, if not, and if I'm not mistaken, the maximum that can work is 3 months.

Hopefully Pangu will launch the English version of their tool soon and that this tool will be like the ones we have used up to iOS 9.1.

And if the jailbreak has already been done with this method, can you still revoke the certificate and stop the jailbreak from working?

    1.    Paul Aparicio said

Hello Alberto. Yes. It is not the same as when you download an app from the App Store. These certificates are temporary and can be revoked by Apple.

      A greeting.

Ummmm, I don't know if that's the case ... The certificate is used to sign the pp25 app to install it, but once installed its operation cannot be blocked by apple since it is based on external and independent servers, the safest thing is that po25 continues to work ,…. That we remember is the one that makes the jailbreak, It is like the apps that apple removes for violating apple policy, they cannot be installed BUT if you already have them installed they continue to work, we all know many examples…

Hello Karpin. It's already crashing and the developers are working on a fix. If there is a certificate, it can be revoked.

      A greeting.

Hello, The certificate is still revoked and it stops working. The problem will be if you restart the iPhone and you have to do the jailbreak again, but if you don't turn it off, you have Cydia all working anyway. I say this because on the first day of jailbreak, I removed the certificate and went back to using the app to install it again. Everything worked even without the certificate installed.

      Hello. Yes.

How about Pablo, can Apple also make the jailbreak stop working even though it was done from the Pangu tool for Windows? Yesterday I jailbroken that way and only downloaded Activator, this morning I noticed that neither Cydia nor the PP apps that installed the jailbreak open. So this jailbreak is Tethered? Would I have to jailbreak again or is there a way to get the jailbreak to work again?

    Greetings.

If no certificates are installed, no. The tools to do the jailbreak, normally have never installed certificates and there have never been problems. Apple can make anything that uses these kinds of certificates stop working, which are basically for testing things. Without a certificate, they can't do anything.

      A greeting.

I think I already know where the problem was. After jailbreaking, I recovered my previously jailbroken iOS 9.0.2 backup. What made cydia load all my sources that I had added. I'm not sure if it was that, but I gave him the PP tool for windows again and it allows me to restart the iPhone and enable the jailbreak from the PP app. Greetings.

Brother, what chance is there that the 32bit tool will come out?

If I had already done the jb via safari and I already had tweaks and I reinstall but from the pc, I recover the tweaks?, Thanks saldudos.

    1.    Paul Aparicio said

Hello Alejandro. So is. When a certificate is revoked, all it does is close its use, but it doesn't "break" anything.

      A greeting.

Hello, I want to know if I do the jialbreak with the PC application, everything works correctly? Or are there many bugs reported? I understand that we will have to wait for the English version, right? Do you recommend updating to 9.3.3 or do I continue with iOS 8 1.1 jailbroken and working perfectly? Thanks! Regards, Martin

Friend Pablo Aparicio then, I jailbroken Safari in iOS 9.3.3, it works perfectly for me, sooner or later it will stop working ???? I will have to restore the iPhone via iTunes and then do the jailbreak again by pc so that it does not stop working ???

    1.    Paul Aparicio said

Hi miguel. You can pass the PC tool to him directly. All the best.

So, what should be done is to eliminate the PP application (which is responsible for starting the jail) and insert it with the windows tool, right?
Even though the cydia icon cannot be opened, it will stay there I imagine ... Thank you!

good afternoon, Where can I get the tool for the JB in 9.3.3 or what is called to google it, thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Hello friends of the jailbreak world, I am worried that the jailbreak tool will stop working if they block even when installed

Hello Pablo, thanks for your post, it is very useful for all those who are passionate about the world of Jailbreak, like me.

I would like to ask you a question, for all of us who applied the JB to iOS 9.3.3 via Safari 10 days ago, and that it is currently working correctly,
Are we safe or can these certificates still be revoked by Apple?
It is that I do not understand if you can no longer jailbreak this way because Apple has revoked the certificates, or on the contrary to those that we have already done and it works for us one day we will be revoked.
I have tried to search for more information on the web but I can't find anything ...

To keep the jailbreak in the safest way and for as long as possible, what do you recommend?

Thank you very much and greetings

    1.    Paul Aparicio said

Hello, Puchu. All certificates can be revoked.

If it is still working and 10 days have passed, it is assumed that they are using a business certificate and that lasts for a year. But if Apple catches it, it can revoke it.

The best way to do it would have been to launch another type of tool, the ones we have used so far that did not use certificates. It seems that Pangu is more focused on iOS 10 because they have made new major changes, so much so that Luca Todesco says that everything that he trusted was loaded. This jailbreak is semi-tethered, not untethered.

      A greeting.

Thank you very much for responding so quickly.
The truth is that the semi-tethered attached to the certificates is a pain, although the tethered is worse, once I applied it to one of my devices, and while traveling I ran out of battery and ... technical death until I returned ...
Fingers crossed and hopefully it lasts a good time
Although I better hope you are right and for autumn we find ourselves the surprise of a brand new ios 10 untethered.
        Greetings and happy afternoon.
