Apple TV 4 can stream Steam games

El XNUMXth generation Apple TV it's a great upgrade to Apple's set-top box. It is thanks, above all, to the new Siri Remote and its own App Store. It is also due to its operating system, now called tvOS, a system in which developers have a leading role, as has been demonstrated by installing emulators such as Provenance or MAME on the new Apple TV. The last feat by a developer has been made by Kevin Smith (the same one who brought the MAME emulator to ATV4) and would allow Stream Steam Games from a PC on the Apple TV 4.

It seems that Smith prefers to work on existing projects to create his own applications for the new device. It is also something that is appreciated, since otherwise we could not use the MAME emulator on the Apple TV 4, for example. What you have done now is export the iOS Moonlight project, a project that was originally based on NVIDIA's GameStream. You have the result in the following videos.

Taking into account what we see in the videos, it seems that Smith has scored the same by exporting projects to the new Apple TV. The good thing about this project is that the games are not running directly on Apple TV, if not on a computer via Steam that uses a modified version of Moonlight for iOS.

It is clear that one of the positive points of the new Apple TV is its compatibility with games, something that was not available in the previous models because they were much more limited. It is not the first time that I say it, but I believe that traditional consoles have to pass away and become set-top boxes like the new Apple TV, with an attractive operating system that offers us a whole world of possibilities. I think Microsoft has it easier, since it can create a set-top box where you can offer music, television, movies and everything that they offer in your application store, as well as it could include something from your Windows operating system and games from Xbox. Sony is the one who has to be careful or it could lose the privileged position it currently enjoys. I think it is only a matter of time and if Sony is not careful it could become the BlackBerry of the set-top boxes.
