Apple TV 4k, specifications, prices and availability

As expected, the guys from Cupertino have launched the fifth generation of Apple TV, but unlike the nomenclature that was usually used, this new generation has been dubbed Apple TV 4k, whose main characteristic is found in the compatibility, finally, with content in 4k HDR quality.

Apple has reached an agreement with the main content distributors to expand the offer of material available through iTunes, where we can find movies in 4k quality at the same price as the HD version. But this device, it will also allow us to enjoy all the content available in 4k quality from Netflix or HBO.

Apple TV 4k Specifications

The fourth generation Apple TV, which is still available on the market, was powered by the A8 processor, a chip with 64-bit architecture and with an output resolution of 1080p. The fifth generation of Apple TV, has been completely renovated inside, since it finally offers us support to be able to reproduce content in 4k.

This is done with the help of the A10X Fusion processor, the same processor that is currently found inside the iPad Pro. The outside of the device it is exactly the same as the Siri Remote. It seems that rumors that the Apple TV remote could integrate haptic feedback inside.

Thanks to the new processor, Apple wants us to start using the Apple TV as a multimedia gaming center in our home, also thanks to the compatibility with the compatible video game controllers for this device and thethe graphic power that the A10X offers us.

Apple TV 4k availability

Like most of the products that were presented in this last keynote, in order to get the new Apple TV 4k we will have to wait a few days, until next September 15, the date on which the reservation period will begin. From September 22 the guys from Cupertino will start shipping the first units.

Apple TV 4k prices

The Apple TV is available, like the previous version, in two modes: 32 and 64 GB like its predecessor. Again we can see how Apple has raised the price of this device once it has been renewed, as happened with the fourth generation model.

This time the input model, 32 GB, is priced at 199 euros, while the 64 GB model amounts to 219 euros. If you want to save a few euros, and content in 4k quality is not a priority for you, you can still get the fourth generation model, a model that is only available in 32 GB for 159 euros.
