Apple warns: Jailbreak is dangerous

jailbreak_iphone_vterm2

I have the impression that in Apple from time to time they must hallucinate when they get Jailbreaked iPhones or customers with problems on their iPhone who call for support and They tell you something about Cydia, and that is why they have updated the support section with information about it.

According to Apple, Jailbreak is dangerous for the iPhone as it causes instability, loss of coverage, app crashes, security issues, and reduced battery life. Have they said something that we did not know or that we did not take assumed when we went to the dark side? I'm afraid not, but I suppose all of us who carry it on the iPhone know that it pays off.

I do not know what you will think, but at least I like that from Apple itself they recognize the Jailbreak and that they call things by their name, at least it's a point for them.

Hello, the truth of all this is that it is a lie, I am a technician I have repaired many iPhones, and what cydia can cause is a software failure, but not loss of coverage, and things such as they say

  2.   Matias said

If by software you can win it (libration), then you can also lose it. In fact many of the updates to RedSn0w, BlackRa1n, etc, etc, are to give more stability in the signal. The baseband is responsible for communications and since they modify it (to release it) many times it becomes unstable.

Modifications of the 3G modem alter the operation of the coverage, and indeed it is a fact reported by many people who have the iPhone with jailbreak. Without going any further, I have not been jailbroken for long on my 3GS and I notice that I lose coverage more frequently than when I had not done it. In I don't know which blog (maybe this one, I don't even remember) they tested the same iPhone with jailbreak and without jailbreak, and they found that the stability in the coverage was completely lower than the one that did not have the jailbreak done.
The battery thing is not true, well or yes, as you can do more things with the iPhone you handle it more, hehe

"All of us who carry it on the iPhone know that it compensates" Completely agreed, the only thing that I have noticed as 'bad' is the coverage and even so it compensates me.

I don't like at all that they officially recognize the jailbreak issue as they will also officially fight against it and make things more difficult for hackers.

I have the cydia and I agree that it is very useful to have it, I am not repairer like crimes but that is true if it causes a lot of problems with the system and worsens the signal.

I do not understand much about the subject, but I do have experience for a long time now and on several iPhones and I have to say that I have never had coverage problems.

I think Apple's strategy is not bad. They know that if people who are hesitating to read this are going to decide to stick with their stock iPhone.

Well, those of us who live in countries where there are not even official iPhones (Costa Rica: - /) we have no other choice. And I have had no problems with the JB.

For all of you, that you know that I do have problems with coverage, the iPhone from time to time is half useless and although it marks coverage it does not call, or send sms, it does not connect to the internet ... It is only solved by restarting.

I interpret that it is a coverage problem.

I already had several iPhones and if it is true that it is the only one that happens to me.

Honestly, I have good coverage and the jailbrek only slows down the iPhone a little in the menus, but even if I wanted to be "legal" I couldn't, I have the 2g of usa equipped with a & at (or whatever) and I live in Spain and use vodafone XD

The coverage is true, it is much more than if you have Jailbreak but it is worth it and, I do not know if it is a coincidence with the Apple announcement but ... since last night (that in the afternoon I connected it to iTunes) I have come down the iPhone 2 times. The first thing in the morning and I managed to get it to work, but this afternoon it crashed, reset and ... nothing, the little apple does not disappear. It loads and when it seems that it is going to work ... it restarts. That takes hours.
Does anyone know how to manually restore firmware 3.1.2 to iPhone? If I do it automatically with iTunes, it will install 3.1.3 that I don't want
    Thank you very much

  10.   Fernando Miranda said

@netsurfer download firmware 3.1.2 from the internet, there are many pages from where to download it ... and you restore your iphone from itunes by pressing shift + click on restore (in the case of windows) and it looks like a new iphone ... without JB, from there you see if you want to do the JB or not ...

It is true that the jailbreak slows down the iphone ipod, but it is a price that is paid to obtain certain benefits. I do not know if the signal is the fault of the jailbreak, perhaps it is more of the hacks to release the baseband.
Netsurfer you have to download the firm 3.1.2 from some website and then in itunes the shift key + restore and choose the firm where you have it on the pc. Greetings.

Have you noticed that they add the iPad to the list? XD

I have always had good coverage, it has never slowed me down or anything like that although sometimes the winterboard hit me.

    I don't want to have jailbreak ... but I need it ...

for example ... I do not understand that if I lived in the United States and had an operator and for work reasons I moved to another country, I do not understand why I should buy another iPhone ... there can be no way of a legal release ... or not a release … That they put me with the company I am with now, which is also an iPhone distributor and I am with an exclusive iPhone plan. but I have to have the jailbreak because it is the only way to make my iphone work with this company.

Sorry to disagree with you, cluxo, but I came to Android and I gave you a phone, it is not the correct way to do things, it is the creeping way to look for developers cajoling them with a little candy.

If Google does that, it is because Apple is eating the ground by leaps and bounds, or do you think that if Google were the one that has the entire mobile market, it would continue to give away phones?

  16.   clusus said

the part that I say is that google shows sympathy while apple gives other feelings as that developer comments, giving nexus to the right is another issue that on the other hand I do not see it bad, I don't know what bad it can see in wanting to earn the developers making life easier for them

It is more me if I were a developer I would appreciate it and I would feel bad the treatment of apple

remember that both apple and android without the developers would not be anyone and the least they deserve is a minimum of care and sympathy, that then everything to become a market etc is another issue

  17.   blind said

If I am not saying that I would not be happy if they gave me a nexus one, I am just saying that going to the competition to recruit with little gifts is not a good / ethical way to act, it is somewhat creepy.

I already tell you that with an iPhone without jailbreak it is quite likely that we would never have to restore it, but with JB you end up doing it sooner or later. Mine from one day to the next without touching anything special, I stop being able to call and receive calls, connectivity in general, but coverage picks up.

    Regards!

I have an iPhone EDGE and I'm doing great, I have Cydia, and applications that are not in the Store, such as OpenSSH and SSL, and the last thing, ANDROID, that I threw my hours last night…. And it goes great, the key responds almost without touching it, and the wifi goes from p…. Mother.

Come on, it seems that we do not understand that Apple is a company and that its function is to make money.
Another thing is that inside the OS, they could stretch a little more.
They are in "diapers" as far as mobile telephony time is concerned and we already compare it with others that have been in the sector for years.
But what is clear is that its AppStore is a business model that the rest of the operators (curiously with many more years of experience) are copying.
That the Jail offers us those little things that Apple has not yet introduced into its software, we all know. But I'm sure that little by little they will get closer to what we are looking for in the iPhone OS.
In fact, in 4.0 you can already see things that previously could only be had with Jail ...

    Greetings.

@ Fernando Miranda. Thank you so much for your explanation

The truth is that he is right, everything that happens there happens to me, but it still makes up for me to have the jailbreak. And not only for Apps from the AppStore, but for many functions that the JB adds to the device that cannot be achieved without it, without going any further than the SBSettings, the Yourtube (Add the "Downloads" tab to the native YouTube App ), iFile, the utility that allows you to download files from the browser, etc. etc. etc.

the jailbreak is what can cause problems, it is not just the cydia, it is necessary to take into account what happens with the push, gps, wifi, etc. jail modifies the system. Of course, it is necessary for many things but let's see how Apple improves to stop doing the jail or at least stop installing so many cydia apps etc.

  24.   fuster said

Without the Jailbreak and programs like Cydia, the iPhone is worth nothing, it loses too much thanks to Apple's restrictive policy with certain unthinkable applications in the Appstore and incredible for Cydia, Icy, Rock, etc.

jailbreal is not good, it is unhealthy, it gets to kill, and it gets to spoil all the principles of a person. (Ramon the vain)

Where are all the fucking jail apps that came out today April 23, 2010 for 3.1.3 and any baseband, I shit on all the jailbreakers who think that putting dates will coerce Apple to release a more recent version or to speed up any of its processes.
The only thing they are going to achieve is that the normal user who dares with the jail begins to forget and begins to make more use of, for example, OS 4, because it is precisely who Apple listens to the low average user, not the developer who is the one who really touches the balls or asks too much (that's why the Jailbreak was really born) or so I think.
    A kiss for all.
